Mid-Season Report for Top NHL Players

When watching the Detroit/ Boston game last night on TSN, they showed who they thought were the leagues top players. So here they are and you tell me what you think.Pavel Datsyuk: Sergei who? Pavel is 3rd in the league for goals with 21. Also, have 24 assists and 45 points. Absolutly a great young player and the Wings have the potential to build the team around this young player. Datsyuk on top of 21 goals, 7 of them are powerplay on only 80 shots (2 away from career high). Not to mention he has a shooting % of 26.3. He is only 6 points from beating his career best 51 points.

Shane Doan: Are Edmonton Oilers kicking themselves in the butt or what? On pace for career year! He has 17 goals 26 assists and 43 points. A major part of the Coyotes organization and is proven to be a great player and a wonderful forward.

Mats Sundin: Team leader for Toronto and arguable the best player on the Leafs. He has 16 goals 27 assists and 43 points, as well, notching a career 1 point/game. However points sometimes doesn’t show a players role. Sundin is a wonderful leader for this Toronto team, and I have heard that off-ice he is a re-markable man.

Mathieu Schneider: Stepping up and playing consistent hockey. He has 5 goals and 24 assists for 29 points. Not to take anything away from Lidstrom but Schneider has been the most consistent hockey and this season has been Detroits number 1 defenceman.

Mattias Ohlund: Playing strong hockey and is a solid stand-up defenceman every night. He has 6 goals 11assists for 17 points and logging almost 25 minutes everynight.

Martin Brodeur: With 37 games played, Brodeur has a save% of .923 and leads the league with 19 wins and 8 shutouts (3 ahead of Kevin Weekes). He is 4th in the leage with a G.A.A of 1.81 only behind Kiprusoff 1.48, the hottest goalie of late Brian Boucher 1.77 and John Grahame @ 1.80. The best goalie in the league this season and is the backbone to the Jerseys defensive crew.

These are the TSN top players up to Mid-season. What do you think… who could be up there?
