With St Louis leading the league the Redwings won't likely catch them. That could lead to Nashville butting heads with Detroit in round 1, and that will be a hard 1st round series to win. If any division winners get bounced, Nashville's pick will be higher than any of them.

Even though the Sabres have put themselves in a middle of the pack position, the top 5 of the draft isn't that far fetched still. They won't get into the draft lottery, but the standings are still a giant cluster. So many teams that aren't far behind them have games in hand or play them in the last 10. Logically the Sabres aren't likely to pick higher than 6th, but that should still net them one of the 4 centers I talked about. Several defensemen will go in the top 5, there are too many good ones to not see at least 3 going in the top 6.

Armia was a favourite of mine last year and I don't think they made a bad choice. It might not be a perfect one but Armia a potential stud. The guy is slick. And the addition of Hodgson makes the need for a center less of a need.

Unfortunately for you, Miller has done his best to relegate Buffalo to another middling performance, losing the shot at a top pick and with it one of those guys you want.

I think you best shot is Gaunce or Girgensons. Both are big centers. People really aren't sure about Gaunce's offensive upside. It could be great, it could be just 3rd line center kind stuff. He's sort of like Colborne in that regards. Girgensons could be an interesting pick. He was a guy that had a lot fans early on but sort went under the radar while a guy like Faksa has rocketed up and stolen some of his thunder. He could be a nice pick by the Sabres if they slip out of the top ten.

If you get lucky and have Nashville fall out in the first round, you should try and snag Maatta. Solid top 4 guy I think, one with some good size, and good all around skill. Likely won't be anything spectacular but just a solid all around guy. Otherwise go after a guy like Wilson or Frk in the 20ish range.

The Sabres do desperately need an impact forward in this draft, definitely a center. Passing on McNeill for Armia last year may still pay off, especially if they can land one of the top centers in this draft. It doesn't matter to me whether it's Grigorenko, Forsberg, Gaunce, or Galchenyuk, if the Sabres get one of them it's a great pick up. Nashville's pick could also end up near the middle of round 1 too, if they're upset in Round 1 of the playoffs as a non division winner that pick will be in the teens. That 2nd #1 can be a forward or a defenseman, this is a defensively heavy draft, especially near the top.

I am not against the BPA, lol, you ALWAYS take the best BPA, lol, like could a quarterback ever have too many good linemen….lol

I still think Galchenyuk ends up being the best player in this draft. Such a shame that he didn't get the opportunity to really showcase himself this year yet. His skill set is one that you just drool over.

Interesting htat you're against the BPA approach. I know you guys are loaded on the blueline, but IMO you HAVE to take the BPA as things can change so easily in pro sports.

I think you're safe to take a forward though. There are too many forwards with high end potential in this draft to pass up.

I've heard that too but it hasn't been substantiated or proven to be correct. There's an idea he hasn't looked totally into it because he's had to learn how to play the NA game as well as dealt with injuries.

I still take him over almost everybody accept Yakupov and Galchenyuk. You can't pass up that kind of upside and talent in a player because of unsubstantiated reports.
