As you don't know hockey very well let me just put you up to speed. Souray is playing great hockey right now and is the major reason our pp is working cause his forcing pk forwards to play high there fore leaving only the two defenseman protecting the net. That leaves more room for the small canadien forwards to manoeuver. And montreal cannot lose one of their 2 pp defenseman.

Sencondly Dallas has no shortage of defensman hence the why they were easily convinced to give up on Ninnima.

Thirdly, after losing Jason Arnott and obtaining Ribeiro i doubt they'll want to diminish even more their size upfront.

Fourth, Modano ows a alot to the orginization after they helped him get back on his feet when he lost all his money in some bogus investment.

Conclusion, Modano will resign to a small (aprox. 2.5 mill/season) contract before the end of the playoffs.

Dallas is deep in defense. And they just traded one way to Montreal for a centre, they’re not going to do the exact same thing back the other way now. Although Modano would be a huge addition to Montreal.

they could help dallas ''LACK OF DEPTH AT D''????????????
zubov, sydor, modry, boucher, klemm, robidas, daley looks to me like a better defensive squad than montreal's markov, komi, souray, rivet, dandenault, bouillon (or niinima, streit).....
better defensively, better offensively (not talking about those 7 games this season...yes souray is hot but zubov was candidate for norris trophy for a lot of years), more coordinated,.....
also, in nets, even if turco didnt prove anything, what did abby and huet prove in post-season? nothing better....
so there's nothing montreal could give to dallas except for a package like higgins, chipchura, ryder,...etc including our best prospects and that won't happen!

Sourray not playing well? Im confused, shouldhe not score to be better?! sure he get’s his feet tied up, but the guy is our leader on PPs! Modano has always been a proven hokcey player, one of the greatest americans to play thats for sure, but the big question here is why dump so much, i assume you would have to, and then take the chance of him not even coming back to mplay in mtl. I c him goign to chicago, or st-louis… lol thats where all the “others” have gone. lol, but could be a good fit on the number 2 line, but as someone mentined, our team is doing fine, in fact, better then fine, let them play it out! go habs!!!

Souray not playing well??????

You had better check the stats, after tonight's game (depending on what happens in the rest of the games), Souray's 4 pt night (2PPG, 2A), puts him #1 in scoring among defenceman, and tied for first on the team with Captain Koivu, which should put them both in the top 25 in scoring in the league. Markov isn't that far back with 6 pts.

Personally, they way I see the Habs playing now, the team is starting to gel, leave them along....would be nice to have Modano....but how long is he going to stay, and how much are we going to have to give up to get him???? Abby or Huet straight up for Modano.....sure why not....maybe throw in a 2nd or 3rd pick, but no more than that for what will most likely turn out to be a rent a player, as I can't see Modano sticking around in Montreal. We have a young healthy team, that is starting to gel....lets not screw with a good thing!!!

Souray is playing good hockey offensively right now so he won’t be moving any time soon. As much as I would like to have Modano as a good veteran #2 center that Montreal has been looking for, we’d probably be giving up a lot just to get him. The trade that sent Ribeiro may have an effect if he plays well though.

Please, I do not want a player who is past his prime… get a prospect for Souray but we better have someone to replace his slapshot because HE IS playing good hockey – not the greatest defensively but offensively – he is great…
