Nilsson, O'Marra, 2007 1st round pick (Alex Plante). Nilsson was the 2003 15th overall pick, O'Marra was the 2005 15th overall pick, and the 2007 pick ended up being 15th overall. 3 1st round picks for a rental Ryan Smyth, Leafs gave up far less, at the time, for a young RFA Kessel.

Edmonton ended up losing on the deal because the 3 assets they got didn't become good players, but at the time it was a great return.

Also did any else know that Ryan O'Marra was born in Japan. Had no idea. lol.

Does anyone else forget that the Islanders robbed the Oilers blind for this guy once before because of a half million dollar difference? Even with all his whining and crying about needing to move back to Edmonton for his family and that's where his heart is and wah wah wah...

Gotta say Katz and Tambellini might look like a bunch of dummies but if they forget that these events happened then I can see why Oilers fans are going to give themselves Sidney Crosby grade concussions from banging their heads on the ground.

yeah he can easily make 2.5-3.0M, but considering how much money he made in his career and if he really wants to stay with Edmonton for the rest of it, then just take 2.0M a year and be happy with it.

I think if Smyth is complaining over 0.5M (again) Edmonton should just tell him to go f*ck himself, they can sign someone younger and cheaper to play 3rd line minutes.
