when Cloutier says more, does he mean actual higher value than Ashton or does he mean what he considers more, lol.

I don't know if Edmonton would have given up enough personally:

Hartikainen, Lander, and Omark are not enough IMO
Edmonton wont trade (and rightfully so) Hall, RNH, Eberle, and Hemsky
We don't want more low value 3rd and 4th line players like Eager, Jones, Belanger for Aulie

So realistically, that only leaves EDM 2012 1st, Sam Gagner, and MPS. All of which are an overpayment, so unless Edmonton was willing to outbid Tampa for Aulie by sending Gagner or MPS (they wont move that 1st, period) I doubt Edmonton was in the running.

I think without Del Zotto or McDonagh the Rangers wont get Nash, unless they are willing to add Kreider to their original offer straight up.

Dubinsky, Erixon, Kreider, Miller, Thomas, 2012 1st for Nash.

Seems like way too many bodies to give up but if your not giving up any NHL players then it isn't really too much of an overpayment, especially if the return is a franchise forward like Nash.

I dont think Nashville was an option for him. Cant remember who reported it on tv but it was on one of the panels…Anyway Nash had only listed Eastern Conference teams. Too much travel in the West, I guess he wanted a change.

And to be fair to the goalies, they have been absolutely hung out to dry more often than they have been terrible. Much more.

I'm willing to give him more leeway. He's done lots for this team, revitalized the prospect cupboard, built a decent to solid young core moving forward, and given lots for Wilson to work with. Yes he went with largely unproven goalies (albeit one with some considerable potential) but he gave Wilson a defense that should have been capable of hiding any of the unproven goalies mistakes. Wilson hasn't used that effectively at all.

Wilson goes before Burke. Wilson supporters be damned. He's not done his job, Burke at least has mostly.

Burke gets fired if they don't make the playoffs next year or have a slow start though.

Where is Burke's accountability? He was the idiot who bet the season on unproven goalies. A well known recipe for disaster.

Another loss, does Wilson finally get fired? Or does it take like 5 more in a row and a missed playoff berth for Burke to do the deed. It's time. Signing him to an extension was a mistake. Time to fix it. Loyalty is commendable and I know he's a friend but enough is enough Burke. Fire him. Now.

So Richard Cloutier seems to think Edmonton would have given more for Aulie. What would you think they would have offered?

Plus they wouldn't have had to trade Gilbert, a guy that's been their best dman this year by far (Petry a close second) for a one-dimensional shut down guy (a good one, but one-dimensional nonetheless). I don't think that it was a terrible trade, it adds some nice veteran leadership, but you think they could have grabbed more for him.
