Toronto Maple Leaf News and Rumors

Changes needed

first move: fire john *****in furgason (jfj) he has not produced any star talent and has overpaid for some of the crap that wear a leaf uniform.
second move. Gotta move McCabe some way…i know he has a no movement clause but if u tell a player ur not wanted here anymore he’ll probably waive it…what u can get is a whole different story..
3rd move gill he does not block shots, hit, move the puck and gets caught in the offensive soon….as he did today when the flyers scored the first goal.
4th move stajan…he’s young has some value so we could get something for him….there is no room for him on the leaf roster….sundin, wellwood, peca and pohl….and i would not switch anyone one of those guys for stajan..

6 Wins and the Leafs are In….Maybe

With 2 weeks remaining in the regular season the playoff picture is far from being set in stone. One team in a dogfight is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Thanks to some loose play the last few of weeks that resulted in them throwing away winnable games, Toronto has put themselves in a position where they need to win at least 6 of their final 7 games to make the playoffs. Amassing at least 94 points puts greater pressure on their competitors and basically allows the Leafs to control their own destiny. Anything less would mean leaning far too heavily on other teams to help them out.

What I think

The leafs have 2 options,
1)keep the team they have now, and hope for a healthy year next year

2)get some juicy free agents

Realistic Maple Leafs Offseason

This is what I think the leafs offseason should be like. There have been guys that write articles like this but put totally unrealistic numbers for player salaries. THESE PLAYER SALARIES AND TRADES ARE REALISTIC UNLIKE SOME OTHER POSTS…this is assuming the salary cap next year will be 47 million.

The Off-Season Plan

The Leafs had a chance this year to stock up on young players and draft picks, Mats Sundin and Darcy Tucker were both highly desirable assets, but Tucker signed a 4-year deal and Mats Sundin is a pending UFA, the trade deadline has passed. With the cap going up and the amount of free agents out there the Leafs can make an impact this off-season, the best we can do is to be a 4th-10th place team in the East.

Leafs offseason

I wanted to know, how realistic it would be to try and resign most of the Leafs upcoming free agents. So, here goes…

TML = 8TH IN EC!

Like the GM of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2005-2006 Season I am stating the Toronto Maple Leafs will, in fact, make the Playoffs and land the 8TH Spot!

GUTLESS LEAFS ARE KILLING HOCKEY

I’m sitting here in disgust at the end of the second period of the Maple Leafs-Senators game.

What happened to the Old Macabe???

OK My second post I donno which one will make it to the big board..but I have to say .. What happened to the old MaCabe??

The one Who used to….

Colaiacovo – Off Season Trade Bait

I am new here so take it easy on me. I just have to comment on the play of Carlo Colaicovo (CC). It is apparent the young defensemen is an up and rising Prospect and has been trying to come out of injury woes for the last couple seasons. Heres a list of Pros and Cons I been noticing lately with his play.

Karel Pilar is coming back to Toronto!!!

Karel Pilar has just signed a contract with the Marlies with hopes of joining the Leafs.

Karel was once Toronto’s best prospect. He had similar skating and puck handling skills as Thomas Kaberle. A future full of promise was disturbed by a mysterious virus that caused heart complications.

Leaf' Lines

Ok, I would like to say, WOW! A lot of good trades today on Tues .Feb. 27 Trade Deadline Day. I know a lot is happening today, but I have to ask, what do you think the Leaf’ Lines will be, on the return of Wellwood, Tucker, Kubina, Peca, and the 3rd time Leafs, Perreult?

Could it be the end for Mats?

The Toronto Maple Leafs are right on the edge of a playoff berth, and on the outside looking in. With the playoffs looking more and more unlikely for the team is Toronto looking to keep their captain and team leader Mats Sundin or trade him and realize it is time to start looking ahead to the future?
