Major trades, coaching changes, teams playing spoiler and their possible impact on predicting wins
Over the course of the next month or so many hockey players are likely to change teams. Some of the players include Hemsky, Miller, Mike Cammalleri amongst others. One of the interesting things about player trades besides the fact that there are some teams gearing up for the cup and others selling players to make their team better is the notion of how trades may effect sports betting, hockey in particular.
Jets fire head coach Claude Noel
The Winnipeg Jets have fired head coach Claude Noel after just over two seasons behind the bench and hired Paul Maurice as his replacement.

So Vokoun told a Czech paper he might retire? Sounds reasonable. I'd be stunned if he plays again. Hope he does. Great guy. But unlikely.

Orlov’s agent demands a trade
Two days after forward Marty Erat confirmed he’s asked the Capitals to trade him, the agent for defenseman Dmitry Orlov said he has asked general manager George McPhee to trade the 22-year-old blue liner.
“Obviously, what Dmitry would like is to be traded,” agent Mark Gandler told CSNWashington.com Wednesday, “because he has no future in Washington whatsoever, zero chance for him.
New York Rangers might consider dealing big winger Chris Kreider to Edmonton Oilers if Nail Yakupov is in mix
If the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers are talking trade, it’s unlikely the Broadway Blueshirts would surrender left-winger Chris Kreider unless Nail Yakupov is in play.
A source close to the Rangers said the six-foot-three, 230-pound Kreider, a playoff star out of Boston College in 2012 but a disappointment last season under John Tortorella, might be the best Rangers forward right now.

Not surprisingly, these teams are languishing in the early-season standings. That, combined with the increased competition for playoff spots given the NHL’s realignment, has amped up discussion about alternatives and, most specifically, how the dominoes might fall vis-à-vis a couple of high-profile netminders — Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres and erstwhile free agent netminder Ilya Bryzgalov.
