First of all KOIVU sucks......he always sucked and will always suck..!
I meancome on wake up and smell the coffee...it's been 11 years and he has done nothing for the team. Weve brought great players to play with that ass, and they were never good enough...but everyone has left and has done amazing things in other teams and let koivu stay here and has brought nothing to the ice except failure.!!!!!
I cant believe he has been the CAPTAIN of the canadiens for so long...do ppl have no eyes and see what going on?

Get rid of koivu and the canadiens will win the stanly cup!

He has never had even 75 points...hes been taking the a free ride...andmaking money what a waste of a person! A waste of a space on the ice...!

the fact of the matter is, Koivu hasn't been playing good hockey of late, he takes bad penalties at the end of games, and hasn't been scoring much. Fact of the matter is plekanec is a better center right now, so koivu is expendable. Fact of the matter is there are better leaders on this team (komisarek), it is no longer Koivu's mediocre team. I don't think he'll be traded this season, but he better take his play to the next level, if he can do that this team can really do some damage! This is probably the best team Koivu has played with, except the finnish teams, he should take advantage of this situation.

no one is saying to trade Koivu. he has a no trade clause. further, koivu's poor peformance and high salary make him untradeable.

people are pointing out that koivu can't score goals at even strength and his plus/minus has not been great so he doesn't belong on the first line.

vinny isn't coming. and if the team wins the cup, it won't be due to koivu, it will be due to the young players like hainsey, markov, and plekanec .

I agree with everything you said except for the Vinny part. I have to be realistic in saying Montreal has a 1 in 30 shot of getting Vinny and that's still an IF and I mean a huge IF, he even becomes a UFA. I say at year's end give both Koivu and Kovalev a 2-3 year extention so that they can be our veteran presence when we're ready to make a Cup Run.

Koivu because he deserves it and Kovalev because he has that sensational chemistry with Plekanec and Kostitsyn and I dunno about anyone else but I don't want to see that get broken up.
