OILERS COACH QUINN DISCUSSES DRAFT POSSIBILITIES ON 'OTR'
Oilers head coach Pat Quinn appeared on ‘Off The Record’ on Wednesday and discussed potential approaches for Edmonton at the upcoming NHL Entry Draft, where they are slated to have the No. 1 selection overall.
“I know the management side of our organization is working on it all the time. They’re obviously very serious – this is a big pick for our guys,” Quinn told host Michael Landsberg.
The first overall pick on June 25 is expected to be either Plymouth Whalers’ forward Tyler Seguin or the Windsor Spitfires’ forward Taylor Hall, and with the Bruins slated to choose second overall, the idea of trading picks has not been entirely ruled out, Quinn revealed on ‘OTR’.
“I hear rumours that there may even be an opportunity for a swap,” said Quinn. “Apparently Boston knows who they want and they’d like to have that first pick, and that could be a possibility. I don’t know that for a fact, but I’m just hearing the rumours out there.”
Quinn said he was not being kept in the loop about which player the team was planning on selecting with the top choice at the Draft, but he was excited at the possibility of bringing either prospect to the franchise.
