Olli Jokinen Likely to be Traded

Darren Dreger of TSN.ca is reporting that Coyote forward Olli Jokinen is very much available for trade.

It is noted that “Don Maloney wants to make it work in Phoenix with Jokinen, but he also realizes that perhaps Jokinen isn’t a great fit with the Coyotes this season or next, because they are a team built on youth.”

Another interesting tidbit from the article is that apparently Jokinen and the Coyotes have agreed that a trade is the best option for both the Coyotes and Jokinen.

Jokinen and Morris to Montreal for Koivu,D'agostini, Fisher and a 1st.

I know he doesn't have playoff experience but I think he is the type of play Howson should look at. He would be the type of player that may keep Nash around.

If Jokinen isn't a good fit for the yote because they are going young, why would the coyotes trade for Koivu?

  4. shifterdarkwolf says:

I'd say there is a 90% chance both Jokinen and Morris get moved at the deadline. Jokinen will bring a good price, a player/top prospect and a pick for sure. Likely trade partners are Chicago (with Sharp out), Columbus or Buffalo. Morris will likely go to Calgary or Philadelphia, both teams are pretty hard up for quality dmen

why would u trade koivu u idiot. i just remember the name plekanec trade him why his value is high

  6. GoLeafs13 says:

Plekanec's value is far from being high.

jokinen would be a great addition to the Habs lineup.  What do you think of this trade:

    Habs get

    Phoenix gets
    3rd '09

Habs are deep at the wing position.  Phoenix gets 2 young players fitting with their philosophy of going with their young players as their core.

  8. dumbassdoorman says:

Phoenix won't take that as they gave up more to get him. Replace Chipchura with a better prospect and better make that 3rd a 1st.

  9. Canadiens81 says:

Thats alot to give up for a guy who is having a disappointing season and has no playoff experience.  Also Higgins is still young and has proven he can score in tht NHL.  Chipchura will be a good two-way center in the NHL he just needs a change of scenery.

  10. dumbassdoorman says:

You are right he is having a disappointing season, but has had a good career, so far. And like I said they gave up more than that to get him. Not to mention Higgins has been hurt a lot over the last few years, as far as I know. I do believe chipchura will be a good two some day, maybe? But the 3rd would have to be changed at min to a 1st.  You have to give up something good  to get something good.

I don't see Gainey giving up a 1st in this years draft just because it is in Montreal.  Maybe a 1st in the '10 draft
