The upcoming outdoor game is drawing a great deal of excitement in the hockey world, and that is good. But I happen to think it is being handled very stupidly by the league office. It is yet another mistake in the horror that has been Gary Bettman’s tenure as commissioner.
According to several sources, Trevor Kidd, the Toronto Maple Leaf backup who underweant offseason surgery, is more than likely going to be bought out by the Maple Leaf organization. This news comes after Kidd has been cleared to play. Quinn also said that he would like to be cumfortable placing Kidd in net, but he has not felt that yet.
Did you miss me? I didn’t think so….
The NHL has hired the consulting firm responsible for the content and tone of Al Gore’s failed presidential campaign to do “promotion and public relations”.
So stop complaining that the NHL doesn’t do enough to promote their product to the general public – because it’s about to get much, much worse……

According to TSN.ca, oldtimer Guy Lafleur has said hockey is now boring, and guess what, I kind of agree.
I have heard from indirect sources that a sports radio station (i believe Team990) have announced that Glen Sather has been in discussion with Montreal GM Bob Gainey about an undisclosed trade.
TSN is reporting that the New York Islanders are looking to dump even more salary and trade Mark Parrish to the troubled Chicago Blackhawks. Rumour has it they are looking to include Eric Cairns in the package as well. Hawks GM bob Pulford said that Wiemer was a part of a bigger deal that would have been done, but it hinged on Wiemer clearing waivers, which didn’t happen. No word on who may be returning to the Island. The Isles fans cant be happy about this sudden penny pinching tactics. If the Isles are looking to deal Hamrlik, then will look to Cairns to take some of that ice time, and doesn’t make sense trading him for salary purposes at only $900,000. Hamrlik, Niniima & Aucion were all among the top 10 in ice time last year and the coach Steve Stirling was looking to ease the load on them by giving Cairns more ice time. So what is Mad Mike up to in Long Island? Stay tuned to see what develops.
TSN.ca is reporting that the Edmonton Oilers have signed 41- year-old free agent centre Adam Oates has agreed to a one-year contract. General Manager Kevin Lowe says the decision to sign Oates came after it was determined that centre Marty Reasoner would be lost to the team for up to a month with injuries to both his ankle and his knee.
In the most recent news from Edmonton, the San Jose Sharks are showing apparent interest in Mike Comrie. It has been reported that Comrie would go to San Jose in exchange for Johnathon Cheechoo and another Minor league defenceman. This could happen within in next few days.
Devil of an opportunity; Dano retirement party
The MantaRay Devil report November 12, 2003
(From the swamps of Jersey)
Bruins captain Joe Thornton is fed up. Fed up with some current tactics in the NHL. So fed up, he may be considering retirement.
