last time i check pat marlau is having a crappy year so dont compare him to koivu. ONCE AGIN PEOPLE LISEN UP KOIVU ISNT THE PROBLEM. ya and good call saying higgins is a first line player did u all see that emty net huye missed over the weekend. he has missed chances like thast all year. i wounder if koivu missed a chance like that would u all say he should be shot

there is suching a thing called a salary cap!!and even if gainey did trade with l.a. there's no gaurantee that we would get stamkos!!there is a draft lottery!!tradehiigins for tangauy!!tangauy has a n.t.c and he said if he waives it montreal will be one of the teams he won't waive it or!plekanec for brad richards!!i wouldn't make that trade!!!and the sedin s in vancouver have n.t.c's it would take more than hiigins to get either sedin twin!and you want gainey to make up for not draftind esposito!!make up for waht?drafting a guy that's going to be a bust or at the very least alexander daigle!!!we used to make draft day mistakes like this not anymore!!gainey and timmins!are to smart to fall fro that stuff!e.i look at the job they done with all the young talent we have!!and last year's picks (1st r.d')macdonagh and pacioretty were smart choices!!and will make us that much better!!your goffy trades that you are suggesting makes you sound like a dillusional leafs fan and not a habs fan!!so think before you speak!!!

trade for a los angeles 1st round draft pick and draft steven stamkos it will make for not drafting agelo esposito trade ryder and grabovski/chipchura for tangay trade higgins for daniel sedin and trade plecanecs for brad richards

what is all this forsberg talk? he is going to philly it looks like. everyone remember John Leclair and how good he was for a number of years. Well take a good look at ryder, i thought he was great last year but didnt pass enough, you think someone told him to pass more???? he will be a great player somewere else 40+ goals . he is not happy in montreal why? we didnt sign him to long term and he is not the same player now. I will take Brad richards over forsberg.
Richards has speed and will be a natural fit in montreal.

I really don't think the Habs need Boyle. They have enough solid defencemen right now, and some very good ones on the way. I wouldn't waste a resource on Boyle. I do agree a big centre would help, but I think the Habs would be better off getting a centre that can win faceoffs! Edmonton is hurting and maybe Mtl could make it worth their while to trade Stoll. If MTL could trade Grabovski, Chipchura, and Gorges for Stoll, Torres, and Pouliot. That would leave the team chemistry preety much intact and give Mtl some grit / skill ( Torres ) a similar player to Chipchura in Stoll, and a possible winger to replace Ryder in Pouliot. Then Mtl could package Halak, Ryder, Locke, and maybe a second or third round pick for Ollie Jokinen. I wouldn't move Koivu at this point. That would probably mess up the chemistry. Koivu could probabl move to right wing on a line with Higgins and Jokinen.

I think Huet gets signed for 2 more years. Price is only 20 years old. VERY few goalies successfully start their careers at this age AND maintain a level of play needed to lead a team to ultimate success. First, I think all the media hype around CP has been a burden to him, with the Dryden and Roy comparisons.
I sure as heck don't want him to turn into another M-A Fleury!
Yeah, he did great winning the gold, best player in Junior, winning the AHL MVP. But NONE of those is the NHL.
I say trade Halak, packaged with Ryder, Dandy and pick(s) for (insert your needs here - a centre, Dman, whatever)
If Price is ready next season, he gets the #1 job or splits the work with Huet and the following year hopefully Price is 100% ready and Huet is still a great goalie and tradeable for whatever our needs are at the time.

I agree with you on everything you said, I think the smartest move would be to get rid of Ryder and Huet to free up some salary and make a really nice offer to Lecavalier, a big, strong, talented # 1 center, this is what we need. Huet is good but signing him will remove Price out of the picture and as we all know Price is the future of Montreal Canadians so he needs to see some action to be able to get used to the NHL. I would say go get a guy like Curtis Joseph or any veteran who wouldnt mind sitting on the bench and be there for his experience. They will be a dangerous team in the playoff this year if they keep it up.
