Should be interesting to see what he does, Nashville is a great fit for him and they are showing that they want to win a championship so he could stay there.

Only thing though, if Pronger retires his cap hit will stay. He signed a 35+ contract so the cap does not come off until his deal is done.
I have to believe now that the top 3 teams for the services of Ryan Suter are

Detroit
Philadelphia
Nashville

For Detroit, it depends a lot on Lidstrom, but they may get Suter anyways to be the eventual replacement for the future Hall of Famer

Cap be damned, the Flyers need help on D and quite possibly Chris Pronger could retire to open up cap space. They are ultra aggressive and have no problems going after the best available players. They will offer money and term, whatever it takes. After their playoff failure, I clearly see them being hot on the trails for Suter to take the next step.

Nashville is always going to be in the mix. We will see though. There's Weber to sign. Radulov. There are holes to fill. There is lots of work left there. This may have been their shot.

I am sure there are a couple of dark horses who will be after Suter. Like maybe Buffalo and their new owner who has shown he isnt afraid to toss the cash around. who knows.

As for other teams, one would be Toronto, but it's a longshot because they are not known to be as aggressive and willing to do what it takes to make a play for the clear top player available.

That is what may separate the Leafs and playoff teams. Their inability to be competitive in terms of acquiring the best available talents will hurt them in the end. It has the last 8 years at least.

Suter is exactly who Toronto needs. I am though not holding my breath on that one.

If Burke could pull that off, enshrewing his principles his values and all those stupid things he believes in that put the Leafs at a competitive disadvantage, he could resurrect himself as someone who is trustworthy to turn the leafs fortunes around.

right now though, forget about it. Lots of Leaf Nation have no faith. That's a good thing people. Its time we put the pressure on them for a change. Not this created, fantasy pressure they speak of themselves. real pressure. Lets really be dissatisfied if he doesn't get the job done.
