He is also a great faceoff man, something every team can use in an important situation. Adding him and Kariya to Legwand, Sullivan and Walker, as well as a number of good young scorers and grinders, this will not be a fun team to play against. If they can play well as a unit and up to potential (that is, all the rookies do their job, make few mistakes, Kariya and co. play up to or past their ability) then this team is kind of scary. they have the kind of team that can really beat you with speed, skill, and grit.

However, I am NOT sold on their defense. That is the key weakness to this team, aside from inexperience. this team NEEDS someone to count on back on defense. markov is a start, but the other good defensive defensemen on this team are either young, or journymen, and the other guys are mainly offensive defensemen. They have the raw talent their, but this group needs a lot of work to be molded into a truly stable unit.

However, they have Vokun in net, and he is a fine goalie. One of the better netminders in the league. If their offense gets in gear, and the defense doesn’t hang him out to dry every night, he should be able to steal some wins.

3rd with Toronto in 2000-2001.

Somehow Julien or Gainey had other plans for him for some reason. Not quite sure why.

There’s more than just scoring that’s important, but he’s a decent player.

He’s vying with Newendyk for best faceoff man currently active, and yet he has to try out along side a bunch of kids in a hockey C market? It just goes to show how guys with real, subtle hockey skills aren’t appreciated the same way as some guy who blabs alot or a boxer who can barely skate.

I think Poile did a good job to pick him up this way. I don’t know the numbers but I’d say 700k is probably the max, and that is outstanding for Perreault. And not to mention the fact that Nashville was in need of a reliable veteran player, especially at center. And he’s led the league in faceoff % for 5 years in a row…yada yada yada. I’ve always liked Yanic, good to see him in Nashville. His numbers should be good this year, especially with Sullivan and Walker.
