Red Wings Re-sign Williams

The Detroit Red Wings re-signed centre Jason Williams to a 2-year deal. Terms were not disclosed – Williams was scheduled for arbitation next monday.

    Glad the Wings got it done before the messy arbitration process…Williams has lots of skills as he proved it during the last season and in shootouts…now Franzen is the only restricted free agent left to sign with the Wings.

    I’m expecting J. Williams to get a better stats this season so the Red Wings are still good offensively.

    Good move. I actually like what the wings are doing, plug the holes with their own, have flexibility at the deadline if need be and lose a ton of salary/baggage after the season. They will be able to get a sense of who is going to work out and what holes they REALLY need to fill going into 2007 via free agency and/or trade. If your gonna rebuild, the REBUILD. Nice.

    He got 1.6 million per year, 2 years. Likely a lot less then he could have got with arbitration. Good move by Holland, especially if he can get aroung 50 points per year from him.
