I’d love to see Liles come back to form and be traded near the deadline for some offense. D-men are always overvalued at the deadline, and it opens up room for some younger D, gives us potentially soem offense or assets, and gets rid of Liles before he gets too old. Not that I don’t like Liles or his style of play, but going forward this young team needs to learn to play together and I don’t see Liles fitting into the 3-5 year plan.

Ok, ridiculous trade scenario, how about Schenn, Kadri, Grabovski & Frason to the Oil for 1st overall and Horcroff?

Reset the rebuild with Yakupov and one of Galchenyuk/Grigorenko/Forsberg down the middle with Horc is the three spot?

Bozak would be really appreciated as a 2/3 center, it’s a shame he has to be thrown to the wolves.

Anaheim has a internal cap system. So a 3 million contract does not fit well with them.

I may have misunderstood what you were trying to say at the end. But, I don’t think Schenn is worth the first overall pick. I don’t think Schenn is worth swapping him and the 5th for the 1st. This isn’t moving up 1 or 2 spots, we’re talking about the 1st overall pick, a guarantee to select any player you want.

I’m with Nords here. Burke should understand that rumours surrounding his players are inevitable in this market. Don’t whine, or else maybe you’re not the man for the job.

i actually love the trade scenario. Next season we will have a pretty awful team. and If he traded away our second line for draft picks. I would send them into the minors for one season even if yakupov is ready. Sign shultz. And DO NOTHING for the goalie situation this year, if it works it works if not then who cares. I like what you did because itd be like one step back, 5 steps forward. Granted i know prospects arent a for sure thing but when has top 2 picks one year and another the year after been a bust ? we’d probably end up in last overal and draft mckinnon. Then in two years..

I only included Army cause both coaches sat him as a healthy scratch.

He may end up being redundant and thus expendable depending on what they do.

I have a feeling the Nucks will shop Ballard. he too has been a healthy scratch in his 2 seasons there.

At that price, its too high. I am sure someone will take a chance on him based on his age and that would further help the Nucks cap wise.

They will look to add a defenceman. I can’t see them not. You can have all the quantity you want, but like Toronto, Vancouver is lacking quality. Hamhuis, he isnt a no. 1. Neither is Bieska or Edler. Lots of good 3′s with Edler a good 2 even. but no 1′s.

their commitments up front prevent that. But i am thinking they will perhaps use Ballard, Raymond, etc to get help on D, or maybe clear salary and take a run at Garrison. That shot, its what they missed with Ehrhoff gone.

Good points guys, food for thought…

Guess the Canucks defense situation is yet to be determined, with both Salo & Rome UFA’s this year. According to CapGeek, they’ve got 3 Dmen making 4+ mil per year (Bieska, Hamhuis & Ballard). Too soon to tell if they’ll be resigning those two or if they’re in the market for help on the back end.

Connolly is a good call, or Lombardi. Of the three you mentioned, I’d most like to keep Armstrong. When he’s healthy, he’s a great role player, just had some bad luck with injuries.

I was strictly referring to Komi when I said “bad contracts”, as he’s making big money & sitting on the bench most nights last year (45 games played). Don’t think he’s a bad guy, just don’t see a future for him on the Leafs.

Luongo, like him or not, would unarguably be a significant upgrade for the Leafs in net. And with 3 decent prospect goalies in Riemer, Scrivens, and Rynnas, we could afford to part with one if need be.

well i dont think the Canucks would want Komisarek. The Leafs have other contracts, Armstrong, Lombardi, Connolly to offer up. One of those could be included.

None of the leafs contracts are all that “bad” considering these 4 players have just 1 year left on their deals.

they’re all cap floor contracts.

something of some value has to go back….but, for a player of the calibre of Luongo, he won’t bring back nearly his worth in talent.

If anything, i would be ok to swap Reimer for him. They dont lose a Dman, they dont lose any of their young forwards and they still have the Bus and Owuya for the Marlies. Scrivens then would get the backup shot.

and heck they could bring in a career AHL goalie to add depth.

This way they give something of value, gives the Canucks some bargaining power with Schnieder knowing they have a capable guy still in Reims, but cap space too, and the Leafs get their no. 1 guy.

I have said this b4, Luongo alone could vault the Leafs to a true shot at least 8th in the conference. He is that good.
