As much as he is disliked, I think someone who scored 51 Points is worth more than a 3rd or 4th round pick. Johnson was an exception as it was more of a Salary dump. Right now Ribs is likely worth more, and if he starts the season with Sammy and Kovalev his stock may be even higher…it seems as low as it can go due to his attitude at some points, but he still can produce.

I don’t think Gainey would make a trade like that.It would not have improved the team and would have cost too much toward the salary cap.

thank god that trade didnt happen. we wouldnt have been able to get johnson or samsonov if it had gone thru. that would leave us with what, a slitghly better defense, and our forwards woulda been the same as last year. let alone paying nikoli close to 7 mill per year, ha, thats a waste.

Terrible trade. Thank u baby Jesus for Jose’s broken Ankle. Wasn’t the whole point of shipping Theo was that he played terrible and made 5.5 million? Doesn’t that sound like Khabibulin except he makes close to 7 million over the next 4 years? And why would we want Aucoin at 4.5? The TSN scouting report says that he has a wicked slapshot (already have Souray for that) and that he isn’t a good skater and that he has a wonky shoulder. A terrible skater, with a messed up shoulder, yeah, Montreal shoulda been all over that one.
