the only thing im worried about is ya we could probably get kipper but as you said, he made a 13th place team come in 9th and we did come in 13th and id rather 13th then 9th place so if were going to make this deal i just want burke to make an actual push for the playoffs and going seriously at a guy like parise, nash etc.. or even start with getting actual 3rd line guys that grind. He says he wants a top 6 that can score and a bottom 6 checking line.. where is the checking? were one of the softest teams upfront. Acquire FA's like gaustad, kelly, etc so we can wear down the other teams defense with there cycle game and in turn will not only help us not get cremated by bruins for once and open space for guys like kessel and such. Stop looking at kulimen as a top 6 guy cause if anyone could have that bad of scoring production.. hes not a top 6 guy.. he'll be a great 3rd line guy with scoring potential.. start the third line with kulimen gaustad and find a bigger winger and start with that. Carlysle needs to stop playing steckel that much because he's simply not good. hes a great 4th line guy and a good penalty killer that can win big defensive draws thats it, use him wisely. I dont criticize the coach too much because steckel was the only guy on our forward group that had size so he was forced to use him because he had nobody else. Kippers a great idea and i hope it gets done because i think we can get him without overspending but if we do that trade, there better be more players upfront being acquired so we dont finish in 9th and actually serious about making the playoffs. They could make as many apology letters as they would like but unless they start doing something about the flaws in this team, i dont see them being serious about winning. Rant over lol

To me, if Kiprusoff is available, and I believe he is for the right price, this is the best possible guy the Leafs could land.

Look at Kipper's numbers this year, he had amazing GAA and SV % and went 35 and 20 on a bad team. He's the reason they finished 9th in the West instead of 12th or 13th. He is among the most consistent goalies in hockey, and he's one of about 5 or 10 goalies count on to stand on his head and absolutely steal the odd game.

To get him I think it would cost a young player like a Kadri or Colborne, along with a young d-man (Schenn, Franson, or Blacker), and maybe an additional pick or player (2nd or 3rd rounder, or Frattin/Ashton/Kulemin).

I think some of you are under estimating his value. However I could be over valuing him, its hard to say, but I think the market for an established goalie of Kipper's calibre will be significant.

If Feaster was planning (or had permission from owners) to do a rebuild, I think Brent Sutter would have been retained. I'm not seeing any indications of a major rebuild.
Sekera has become more of a shutdown defenseman than an offensive one. He tries to play a hybrid role between the 2, but is better suited to shutdown top offensive units. In a way he's effectively replaced Tallinder, who played the same kind of game. That's why Buffalo won't give him up easily.
The Sabres would not give up Regehr until the trade deadline, and that's if they had a bad season. Leopold would be possible, but he's played such a big role in the offense that they don't want to let him go unless they have to. The most likely trade candidates from the blueline could be Leopold, Sekera, or Weber, but they won't give up Sekera unless it's a can't miss trade and he's the deal breaker.

Tanguay isn't a bad player, but he's old and not what he used to be. I also don't know how long he's signed for, but Leino has 5 more years. Your proposed deal involves a ton of assets, and for Iginla it just doesn't make a lot of sense. That's the kind of deal you make for Bobby Ryan, 10 years younger and $1 million cheaper than Iginla.

Right now Pysyk is captain of his Junior team and spearheading a 15 game winning streak. He could be NHL ready in a year, and he's definitely top 4 capable. At #12 overall you'd have your choice of either another top 4 potential defenseman, or a solid top 6 forward. And Gerbe is a lot like Paul Byron, who they already sent there. Gerbe can be a game breaker, he just needs the right fit on a line, and he already has a knack for playoff production.

Your return for Iginla, even throwing in one of your best offensive prospects would not be quite so much. The Sabres don't have any dead weight salary on the roster other than Roy, who doesn't make enough to offset Iginla's money. Leino had a bad season, but it's too soon to think he's dead weight. If Hecht and Boyes had a year left on their deals, they would qualify, but they don't and they'll both be gone.
I get the feeling for Vancouver to do this one of Connolly or Tyrell would have to go the other way. Solid pick up for TB if Luongo would waive to go.
i guess my opinion is they have too many guys like Leopold, Sekera, Ehrhoff, etc already? Like the OK but not great offensive dmen?

Nothing like when they had Campbell anyways. That's my thought. maybe a change would be best.

Sekera could be had for sure I think. He has done nothing since signing for all that $$$
I am truly hoping they do well. Would love to seem them face the Ice Caps so I could actually get tickets to go to the game. That being said D'amigo has really been playing well as of late. He has been one of the Marlies best PKers. I hope he can bring that to the NHL because we could sure use it.
