I dont really believe that, if he can get you to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals (shaky or not) then he can win you a cup.

My problem would be the contract, we could end up stuck with him if he turns bad and we would have to let Reimer go (most likely through trade) or sign him and have a 5M+ backup goalie. If he didn't have a NMC and we could waive him if it came down to it then I'd say go for it, we have paid much bigger price tags to get goalies like Toskala and Raycroft.

you're right that anyone would come at a bigger return than Lu. But if the ultimate goal (don't laugh) is to win a Stanley Cup then there's no point in trading for Lu. Might as well wheel Reimer and Gustavsson back out and save the cap space.

Luongo would be a huge upgrade for Toronto. They could get him for next to nothing. I wouldn't hesitate if I were Burke. Who else is available. Not many tenders, and whoever is available would command a much bigger return, which I don't think Toronto should even consider.
