GMs would be stupid to give up more than what Tkachuk demanded. Shero isn't that stupid.

Just cause you're jealous with your joke of a team (which I last year said I wouldn't trade its entire roster for Malkin, and stick by that) doesn't mean you have to come on here and harass everyone.

I'm not sure why people rag on Fleury. He's still super young, and has he even been GIVEN the chance to prove himself in the playoffs? No! Because the Pens haven't been to the playoffs in his very short career.

We've all seen how young, even rookie goalies have excelled in the playoffs the last few seasons, so I think that point is highly invalid.

Moreover, the team relies in Fleury (tied for 5th most wins in the League) and won't trade away their youth for a top 3 goaltender. THAT would be insane when what IS needed (I agree) is a defensive defensemen and a top line scoring winger (NOT Gary Roberts).

Unless he combines the move with something else, I have to agree. By itself it is a really bad move. Welch would have made this team next year, and that would have meant going away with names like Melichar, Nasreddine, and perhaps even Scuderin. Certainly none of the mentioned would have had to log major minutes, and that would have been huge to begin with. Plus adding Letang, maybe even Goligoski…bad move.I would not have frowned on this if it would have been Goligoski, but Welch? Bad move all by itself.

You are too harsh, but all in all your points are very valid.If this is all Shero is going to do, this is a terrible trade, and all in all, this is mostly Patrick’s team. That Shero line is not that bad, though…although Petrovicky needs to be moved out of there, in my opinion.

I have been thinking about that, and makes you wonder if they would trade a forward, like Malone. At any rate, if no one else were to be moved, my guess (in part fear) is Malone is the odd-man out and gets pushed to third line duty. Could be a good or bad mood, that’s just my guess.

Anyone who thinks a prospect and a 1st rounder for Guerin will happen, is delusional, perhaps even stupid. However, to label Penguins fans all across the board as more stupid (since stupider does not exist) is just testifying why the vast majority of the site considers you a jackass.Some thought process and common sense before writing should come into play before you post these kind of comments. And if you did not mean them in that way, then say so, and apologize to the Penguins populous. Things like these is why a lot of people won’t even read your articles, and why HTR has to say over and over to people to just dismiss you and apologizes for you. Get a hold of yourself and grow up, even a little.

Whao, what a dream trade for Pittsburgh. I would go for that trade, so long as it is a 1st pick in the next draft, which is weak. But that trade sure looks impossible considering what the asking price for Laraque was just a few days ago. Hopefully the price comes down…

You hit it right on the head. This is not a good trade, considering what is lost, but the key is what else is done. If this is compounded with other trades, especially on defense (that matter, of course…e.g.Ken Klee need not apply), then I can see it being worthwhile because of the combination of moves. Otherwise, not a very good trade for an injury-prone rent-a-player, regardless of attributes.
