playoff tested? Cup winning? Maybe in the past. The way I see it the sabres would be on the side that deserves to be shot. A somewhat young UFA who can still be re-signed as Florida's starter before stanley cup gets handed out in exchange for two washed up players who haven't offered anything to any team they've played for since the turn of the century. If I were you, I'd count your blessings if this trade happens, but it wont.

Ahem……Darcy has never been one to make a stupid deal, in fact his deals have been mostly (well) downright steals come trade deadlines. (see Dumont and Gilmour for Grosek and/or Chris Gratton for Danny Briere). Despite his UFA status, the day Belfour or Roberts end up in sabres jerseys in exchange for a solid insurance policy such as that which Biron provides is probably the day hell freezes over. I saw this come from Ecklund's blog, the same person who speculated that the sabres were after Brian Berard last week. Lets leave the unrealistic speculation to him. The sabres have just about enough cap room (assuming Connolly isn't back before playoff time, saving them 3mil in cap room) to afford each of these washed up has beens; I think Darcy's track record has proven there are better ways to spend a teams money and given the sabres post season chances the move will be in the best interest in the team rather than throwing away a great shot at the cup at players only the leafs and panthers were willing to sign in the past 3 seasons.

You can hear this rumor as much as you like, it won't happen unless the Sabres immediately make another trade to cut more cap room. Biron's salary is less than Roberts alone, never mind adding in Belfour's to Buffalo. The Sabres have no cap space outside of Paul Gaustad's salary now available since he's out for the year. Even using up the space provided by Gaustad isn't enough, Belfour makes more than he does. So say what you will, this trade will not likely happen. I'm fine with that too, because I don't Roberts at the price we'd be paying, but I would be ok with Belfour as Miller's backup for the playoffs (although I'd still rather get Mike Dunham who is younger and cheaper).

If you're talking Sabres trades people keep saying they're inching towards Kevyn Adams in a Sabres uniform. That's a move I like.

Why would Boston want a UFA who's not that good who you couldn't get just for Thomas (because Brron will be a UFA).
