Id say he's pretty much untradable, yeah. Although, we all thought Gomez was as well and look how that turned out, so who knows.

This is the kind of trade Edmonton has to do with Souray. They need to find an equal cap hit, equal value player that is no longer wanted by the team or the player himself no longer wants to be in that city.
Kovalev Im not sure on, I dont follow Ottawa that close. I have no doubt Ottawa wants to move him for someone younger or cap.

Souray has 2 years at 5.4 cap and Kovalev is 1 year with 5. Edmonton I think would like this trade because its a year shorter, 400k less (not much but 400k could be a prospect's cap) Ottawa kind of loses on this when it comes to the contract. Its an extra year and an extra 400k (which is a lot since that is basically what they had left this season) I cant think of any other trades that would be available for Edmonton off the top of my head, but this is a good one. Souray is younger, more physical and I think has something to prove. They are equally prone to injury...

This trade makes sense. Souray wants out, Kovalev is expendable for Souray if they dont sign Volchenkov or Michalek from Phoenix. If they sign either they would rather trade Kovalev for another forward.

no, Im comparing Kovalev to Souray Both ex canadiens, both having a contract around 5-5.5 millions.Both not really wanted anymore by their team

What do you think about a Souray for Kovalev trade? if the senators dont resign Volchenkov ?
