Perhaps, but if he wins this year (or not I suppose) I doubt they can repeat in the next two years, and I don't think anyone ('cept maybe Marty himself) think he'll play past 43. I'm sure he's got another season in him (at least), but why not end it on the highest possible note? He also runs the risk of getting injured and losing a season or simply falling off and not being able to compete (see: Rolson). 40 seems like a respectable age to retire.
Will winning be the way to end it or does it stir a new competitiveness in him, and a drive to try and win it one more time?

although if they win, I don't think they will care.

Win the cup and then roll the dice on a UFA like Harding or Biron... worth it. lol.
Seems like a non-issue to me. Unless they have some specific target for the end of the 1st round that they think will be an huge asset that somehow other teams don't know about they can't honestly expect to finish better than this in the next two years (not saying it won't happen, but the odds are so high that any GM would be stupid to rely on on finishing higher).

*****, next two years? If they win the cup I could see Marty hanging up the skates after this season. Why keep going if your 40, have an amazing hall of fame career, winning pretty much every accolade in pro hockey, and capped it all off with a 4th cup ring. In the end I get the feeling he'll be back for at least one more regardless of the outcome of the playoffs, guess I'm just saying, *****, what a career...
I'd have to think yes. What are the chances they go this far again? I can't imagine very good. They only have two more chances after this so I would think they have to do it now. What happens if they lose Brodeur is two seasons and fail miserably, only to have to give up that pick? It has to be now. They need to risk possibly losing both their first and Parise.

I don't think Holtby has been tested that much. He had a lot of work in the last game, but other than that, they've made it too easy for him.

heh. Watching the game last night on NBC was funny. Idiot 1 is asked by McGuire if Pluto is still a planet, to which he incorrectly states that it is. He goes on further to claim that mike Smith is probably the best goalie left, Quick being second. lol. Overall Lunqvist is best followed by Quick. Playoff wise, I'd say Quick then Holtby (this year, I mean). Silly Amuricans.
If they win you have to think a certain Hall-of-Famer might not be returning for another season... That could suck for the devils.
I'd say that's a given. As an aside I'm scoping a lazy boy chair with special head rest to keep your head up for what appears to be an impending Devils/Rangers conference final.

I guess if you're the Devils this is the year you give up that pick you have to surrender for the Cap Cir*****vention? It's a bottom 4 pick now so I think it'd be hard to say I'll try again next year and see what happens.
