From Shanahan himself, it's been clear that if he comes back next year, it's going to be with New York. Shanahan is not the kind of guy who is going to say one thing and do another.

Something I figured would happen. After the season Shanahan had last year it is obvious he can still keep up with the game, at an elite level as well. He was an excellent on and off ice leader, a true teammate who sticks up for his linemates (taking on Brashear), and one of our best two-way forwards who excelled on the penalty kill. It seems as if he loves New York and playing for the team, as I have had the chance to get an autograph from him after and game, and he interacts with the fans so well. I had no doubt that he would come back, and of course with the Rangers.
