SPORTSNET.CA: Reports Toronto Maple Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr remains open to any deals that will improve his club. “He’d like to add a scorer up front. He’s talked with the agent for free agent Anson Carter but the price probably is too steep given the team’s closeness to the $44-million US salary cap.”

TORONTO SUN: Mike Zeisberger also reports on the possibility of more moves by the Leafs. “(T)he general manager figures the most likely avenue would be through a trade, since the Leafs have little wiggle room remaining under the league’s $44-million US salary cap.”

if the leafs traded antropov and tellquist they would hav enough cap space to sign some one good like carter

  2. danfrappier1982 says:

They could still sign Travis Green, he’ll make up for all of the loss scoring, hahahaha

  3. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

I’d rather have Antropov and Tellqvist than Carter

  4. TradeZilla says:

This is just a theory , why not make a trade with Chicago.

The trade would look like this:

To Chicago: Matt Stajan, Nik Antropov, Jay Harrison, and 3rd round draft pick

To Toronto: Kyle Calder, Brandon Bochenski, and a 4th round draft pick.

  5. leafhater says:

Both useless players no team can use them.

  8. Gunner says:

The Leafs wont try to make the trade with the black hawks because an arbitrator has awarded Kyle Calder $2.95-million for the 2006-2007 season.

They’re already better in every category, Raycroft>Belfour (can’t believe I’m ever saying that) and Kubina and Gill > Berg and Belak (not saying much, and Peca may not score as much as Allison, but Kubina’s offense makes up for that, and Peca is good defensively, saves us some goals, and Steen, Stajan, and Wellwood will probably increase point totals, and a full season of Sundin means all things considered, they’re far better then last year, unfortunately, so are Florida, Montreal, and alot of others, they’re luckily Tampa and Jersey are alot worse, Atlanta has failed to do anything substantial to get them into the playoffs, Ottawa is alot worse, they might win a few more against them, and Boston is still a no chemistry team, that I don’t really see making the playoffs.

Work needs to be done, another scoring winger could get them into a position from 4-6, right now, they’re 7-8.
