maybe I wasn't clear. I was implying that Burke would not offer the likes of Ryan and the Oilers' first round pick; and that he would likely offer something less appealing, therefore the Leafs should look elsewhere.

There is no way in hell the leafs could get a better deal then bobby ryan and a top five first round pick for sundin. If you are the leafs you prey every night that you get a return like that.

trade Kyle Wellwood, Jason Blake and Hal Gill to the Atlanta Thrashers for Bryan Little, Boris Valabik and the Thrashers' second-round draft pick of 2008.

trade Alexei Ponikarovsky to the Chicago Blackhawks for Tuomu Ruutu.

trade Ian White and Chad Kilger to the San Jose Sharks for Steve Bernier.

This version of the Toronto Maple Leafs would likely stuggle to make the playoffs but rebuilding the Leafs is going to take more time than just one offseason. Buying out Tucker and Kubina contracts are options to consider.

NOTES:

- Kulemin is probably the best Leafs prospect right now.
- trade Kyle Wellwood to a team in need of a play making center. ie. Atlanta
- Trade Kubina for a draft pick(s) if possible.
- I don't think Burke will trade Bobby Ryan and Edmonton's first rounder. The Leafs could find a better deal elsewhere; Burke's offer won't compete with other offers throughout the league. This being said, I still don't believe Sundin will be traded.
- Most likely players to be traded at the deadline are: Jason Blake, Ian White, Alexei Ponikarovsky (injured) and Hal Gill.
- Raycroft will be waived by the end of the season or bought out in the offseason.
- Darcy Tucker will never waive his NTC nor will Tomas Kaberle... Bryan McCabe unlikely.
- Finally, Bell will finish out his contract as a Toronto Maple Leaf... unless, maybe Chicago is interested in his return? unlikely

if the Leafs were able to get Anahiems 1st round pick from Edmonton and the Leafs finish 14th or 15th in the east, we have TWO top 5 picks depending on edmonton and toronto final games. It doesnt look good for Edmonton with their injuries mounting up and well the Leafs will never make a push simply because their too inconsistant. I personally would love Sundin to Anahiem for Ryan and Edmontons 1st pick. I doubt it will happen as Burke isnt in need to trade that pick for a rental player.
