These Sharks are for REAL
After watching the San Jose Sharks’ dominance over the St. Louis Blues in Game 2, I have to say… These Sharks are for REAL. I’ve been an avid reader of HTR for just over 2 years, and there seems to be a shortage of Shark fans, while a surplus of Leaf Fans and Leaf Bashers . Anyway, it seems that nobody knows too much about the Sharks, for they’re located on the West Coast, and don’t get too much TV time. That may change, for I can see this team wielding Lord Stanley’s Cup. Here’s my very first article.Although I may be biased, I was one of the many people who thought that the Sharks weren’t going anywhere this season. Boy was I wrong… This team has traveled to great lengths to get to where they are now. I’ve watched about 75% of their games this season, and this team is no fluke, and that’s for sure. This team is very defense oriented team, and only scores when it needs to. They have great team chemistry, and a balanced attack. It will be hard to shut this team down, as they have about five 20 goal scorers in Patrick Marleau, Alyn McCauley, Nils Ekman, Jonathan Cheechoo, and Alexander Korolyuk(19 goals).
It should come to no surprise that this should be a team to be feared. They have a great goaltender in Evgeni Nabokov, who has been tremendous after a bad start to the season. And this team NEVER gives up. This was proven in the last game of the regular season, when the Sharks played the Los Angeles Kings, and the Sharks came back from a 3 – 1 deficit with 20 seconds left in the 3rd period to win the game in Overtime.
Although I was sad to see Darryl Sutter leave after the Sharks tanked last season, Ron Wilson has done a great job in San Jose, and should win the Jack Adams trophy for coach of the year. He took a team that seemed to have no talent and made them a power house. He very much reminds me of Herb Brooks, who took the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team all the way, commemorating the Miracle on Ice. Don’t be surprised if this San Jose team goes all theway.
As Al Micheals said, “Do you believe in Miracles? Yes!!”
