Thing are looking brighter
Well, we have all awaited the return of Mario Lemieux. Whether it be beacuse we are Pens fans or you have him on your fantasy hockey teams.
It is quite refreshing to see him back on the ice. Though he may have lost a bit in the speed departement one thing is blaringly clear. He still has the incredible instinct. He sees the ice as well as ever and can see a play developing before anyone else. This has become more evident over the past few games. He asked Alexsei Morozov to go to the net and find the open spaces and he will get the puck to him. Morozov has done just that and has netted five of his nine goals in the past three games. Lemieux has had two, four point games in the past three and looks as if he is intent on getting this team back into the playoff picture.
They are now just four points out of the final spot in the East and are on a three game win streak. Mario is making a difference and the Pens are benefitting from his return.
With Straka targeting late February for his return the Pens will be set for the stretch run. Mario knows that if this team is to make money they must make the playoffs. All he needs is to remain healthy for the balance of the season and this team will remain in contention for the post-season.
