I like Rucchin as a player, but if what I’m reading about that contract is true, it’s pretty crazy. It was nice to have him as a Ranger for a year. He’s one of those guys that always finds a way to contribute on the ice, although he is not a true top line player anymore. Defensively, I think he can still do well, since he is a very smart player. With Rucchin and Holik at center, Atlanta will have a couple of very solid checkers.

Rucchin will get paid $1.85 million in the first season, $2.4 million in the second and $4.25 million in the final year of the deal.

$4.25. That is not a typo. ATL is absolutely out of their mind to think that this guy will improve with age. I guess their thought process is that they will take home stanley by them, which would be mistaken.

I agree with you 100% about what you said. Also the habs are not the only team that hasn’t done anything. What has Buffalo done or Philly or the Avs. Arnason is not a big signing neither is Baumgartner. The only positive about the leafs is that they are not the blackhawks. LOL

i assume thier replacing marc savard with rucchin, quite the downgrade if you ask me… atl will miss the playoffs once again.

It must work like that in TO, but no, here in Montreal we try to stay realistic.

Kubina and Gill won't get you playoffs.

Im sick and tired of Toronto fans always bashing Hab fans and talking down to us just because JFJ went and got two average defensemen and Gainey did nothing (so far). Wake up, our team, even if it remains the same will stay young and grow together just the way the Hurricanes did and the Sabres did. We can't say as much for the Laughs who are going for another "forty of mediocrity".
