Instead of 07-08 don't you mean 08-09. All of these players are rookies, they have a way to go before making an impact on the Flyers. They are good players but it will be a few years.

williams doesn't hit, period. i've watched about 50 of the red wings games and rarely do i see him take the body. enough. you barely even notice williams most nights. yeah i know calder has had a rough season but he can do more shown by his 59pts on absolutely horrible no-body chicago team last year. i'm a avid wings fan and may be biased in a small margin, but i know what i see because i watch about 5 other nhl games a week as well. there's a reason why he wasn't drafted. he stinks. no defensive intincts or effort whatsoever. he is supposed to be our "point sniper" but his shot is highly inaccurate. often times he take an excellent pass from Lang and he'll be all alone or be 10ft from the net and miss it completely.
his only good attribute is he is fast and a great skater. i know i'm only focusing on williams primarily, but calder is a good choice because it took little risk, no picks, and a crappy player to get him and he has the potential to be a top 6 forward when at his game. I believe am versed enough and watch enough of the wings to be considered to have expertise.

I agree. I thnk that Holmgren has made a lot of good moves shipping out some dead weight with heavy contracts. Nothing against Forsberg, he's the best part time hockey player in the world....unfortunately we're looking for full time players for the Flyers.

However, I really hope that Holmgren can make the team attractive enough for some good, experienced UFA talent to sign in the offseason. These trades will take a long time to pay off if there aren't any guys around to show the young blood the ropes. Alll this being said, the defense is looking pretty good for years to come!

You gotta give Holmgren his props for the trades he's made this year.

Getting young and cheap by acquiring Upshall, Parent, Coburn and now Kukkonen (as well as a #1 and 2 #3 picks)...if he can find anything for Esche, Hatcher or York...we're looking good for a big bounce back year in 07-08!

i do, but for some reason i liked those players when they were back witht their old teams, mostly for their heart and playing style, and then they all moved to Philly. it's not that these are the only players i like

Why is it that every player i like goes to my least favourite team?

upshall, kukkonen, calder, sanderson just to name a few. kapanen and knuble have been for awhile. Its like some one is trying to make me like the Flyers. lol

anyway... i think CHI paid too much with the draft pick

So the Flyers traded a hurt, UFA for a 5th-6th Dman and a 3rd round pick. Not bad in my book.

I am gonna trust Holland. not sure why you make this deal unless they think Calder is great or Williams wanted/needed to be out. I think its an even trade though. So thats why I question why they did it.
