Well they over paid him. But at least the Leafs fans can rejoice over something. Congrats!

  2. NemiNA says:

WOW! Very intelligent and reasonable. I’m Impressed!

  3. NemiNA says:

Dude are you serious? Its either you or us man!

  4. NemiNA says:

You’re right. As much as I disslike Domi, I love all the shit he stirs up in Philly. It maked for entertaining hockey. Domi makes the game worth the price of a ticket.

    I can’t believe I admitted that.

    2 yrs 2.5mil-Domi-Rediculous

    2 yrs 1.6mil-McCarty-Perfect

Hmm, thats a tough one, I like Domi but Darren McCarty is better, cheaper, younger, and a better finisher. Wow we got ripped off, i would of much rather had McCarty, what a joke!

*Is this our Big signing we’ve been waiting for wow i hope he leads us to the Cup on his back, just by beating ppl up

For all the leafs fans out there, I know im gonna get bashed for saying this, but Domi wasnt a mistake. Tucker and Domi are one of few players that can make the fans energentic and happy when we are losin or angry. Domi may have been paid a lil to much, but we just stopped the pens from gettin someone to protect crosby. we have new comers that are gonna run this team, and domi will teach them to be tough. He has already taught belak and many others. The leafs will be lucky to sign anyone right now, why not be happy for someone that will make every other teams fans pissed off and make us cheer. He fought a flyers fan in the box and defended a ref, that made me and all my buddies go crazy durin that game, and im sure u guys to. He can score here and there, but we need DOMI, for more then goals and plays. He can shine everyonce in a while, but what he does best, makes us proud. Hes a Leafs Nation player. Philly is gettin stronger, and there one of our most hated teams. Domi and Tucker will surely take care of that. Dont be mad, be happy. Not to mention that fact that it shows that the leafs are willing to take care of there fan favourites and players. That itslef might now attract players. Its evident what JFJ did so far hasnt brought us anyone. So lets hope this might. If not, who cares. GO LEAFS GO

  7. Scruffy05 says:

Gotcha beat…. Came out my nose… Then I showered for a good hour and a half. Domi and JFJ a couple now? Hmmm….

  8. tml28 says:

This is what our lines look like right now

    Not So Good

    Not that bad

Ehhh We need help, but i still think were a playoff team

  9. PensFansRejoice says:

… im a penguins fan… at this point, im serious about nothing outside of craig patricks beheading…

  10. crozky says:

Man what an awesome signing that is, while the rest of the NHL are signing players in order to actually compete in the upcoming season the Leafs took the bold move of resigning a tough guy who doesn’t fight. I heard a rumor that Mike Palmateer came to Patrick Roy in a dream and told him to come out of retirement and play for the Leafs. Who knows, could happen!

  11. nordiques100 says:

the new rule in the CBA prevents former leaf defencemen from coming back to toronto. they are only allowed to go to detroit (tree mironov, macoun, gill, rouse, schnieder). so it would i guess have to be chelly.

  12. Resmo112 says:

i said this before there is NO WAY zetterberg is going to toronto you can dream all you want, the wings will give him 2.5 (what he’s been asking for) and still have plenty of money to sign all their other RFA’s and maybe a UFA. also why the hell would you put o’neil on your 3rd line, and resign mogilny if that’s toronto’s team next year i’d laugh at them. mogilny should be signed for the league minimum that’s all he’s worth

  13. Aetherial says:

Naw, no shame in admitting that… Toronto fans have had to admit that Primeau ran roughshod all over our whole team.. granted, Domi is nowhere near in the same class as Primeau, but he did make a good try at carrying the team in that series. Too bad nobody else seemed to have anything left.

  14. Aetherial says:

Why bother repeating the same lineup with Zetterberg 1.5-2 milion less than he is worth.

WHO is Samuelsson? … looks like ayet another 4th liner. Why are you so high on the guy?

Looks like the Leafs will be in a bidding war, and not compete, with Mogilny. I was hearing New Jersey was interested in him. I would say the chances of him back in Toronto are VERY slim.

I can’t find Corey Schwab on the NHLPA list… albeit I may have gone braindead from looking up so many players, positions, salaries, statuses over the last couple days…

I will post my suggested team later today.

  15. Aetherial says:

That lineup is not a playoff team.

Don’t pencil in Jason Allison just yet. The fact that it has not happened by now tells me that there is either a serious problem, or a bidding war. If it is a bidding war with Buffalo… I think the Leafs are out of the running for him also.

  16. Aetherial says:

That is perhaps one of the stupidest things I have read on this site.

If Mogilny does play and he has recovered from surgery he is worth MUCH more than the minimum. YOU clearly have not payed attention to him playing. He is past the prime of his career but still a very talented player.

  17. 19Yzerman says:

Yea in the cancelled 2004-05 season him and all his fellow NHLPA players collectively lost the CBA fight. LOL

  18. CBA says:

Wow, I feel so happy for you! I’m sure Domi will score twenty goals on the way to Toronto’s Stanley Cup win!

What a joke. Who needs that much money to fight and hit the crossbar on an empty net?

  19. CBA says:

In a $39 million salary cap era, who would pay their goon $1.25 million per season? You could get a guy just as decent, who is younger and costs $500,000 per year.

But good job with the, “play on his name.” Real innovative!

  20. CBA says:

So what is Domi if he’s not a fourth liner? 2nd line scorer? 1st line star?

  21. CBA says:

Most playoff teams don’t have Nik Antropov on the first line.

  22. Resmo112 says:

even if he is healthy he’s still a risk and to sign him for so much would be stupid ESPECIALLY in this new NHL. the stupidest thing i’ve read on this site is that the leafs will sign zetters for 2.5 million. #1 he’s worth WAY MORE, #2 he’s restricted and the wings will pay him that.

  23. Resmo112 says:

o’neil behind DARCY TUCKER is pretty stupid as well. wooley would sign for less than a million, he always has. i’m still hoping the wings will pick him back up, but alas they didn’t pick up his option nor will they offer him a new contract.

  24. 92-93 says:

i’m not ‘high’ on Samuelsson – he was with the Florida Panthers before the lockout and is just an affordable winger. you can substitute any affordable winger at that spot, I just went with what was being reported months ago. who else can you think of? suggestios?

There should be no bidding war over AlMo. Mogilny leaving would be a plus for T.O. as it enables them to go after a quality right winger (fitting Zetterberg for more than $3 million) or going after a more affordable Carter – which I DID state and Schwab is on the TSN.ca website’s list of UFA’s for New Jersey.

  25. 92-93 says:

welp, i did say it was an “estimate’ and came out and admitted my lack of knowledge there so no big deal. and i did come out with an alternative with Carter for $2.5 which is incredible (if not too) reasonable.

  26. 92-93 says:

Just a note on my earlier estimates: I guess wasn’t that far off of the Zetterberg-at-$2.5 million amount IF this report is accurate:

“Thefourthperiod.com is reporting that GM Ken Holland, of the Detroit Red Wings, is trying to re-sign Datsyuk and Zetterberg, two players which played a great role in the 03-04 season. But the problem with this is that Datsyuk is reportedly asking big bucks from the Wings. Datsyuk is asking $4 million US while Zetterberg is asking $2.5 million US. Reports have said that if Detroit can’t pay up for Datsyuk then he may just stay in Russia…”

  27. 92-93 says:

i just assume that no one is reading this thread anymore but I am just going to post my plan one more time without Mogilny and an increase in Zetterberg’s amount (he is looking for $2.5 million in Detroit but I’m sure he won’t mind playing in T.O. besides Sundin :P).

as for that plan I keep posting, here it is revised with the Domi signing:

    ZETTERBERG ($3 million)_______Sundin ($6.3 million)_______Tucker ($1.6 milllion)

    Ponikorovsky ($450,000)_______ALLISON ($1.5 million)_________Domi ($1.25 million)

    SAMUELSSON ($500,000)________Stajan ($805,000)___________O’NEILL ($1.5 million)

    Kilger ($475,000)__________Steen or Wellwood ($450,000)______Perrott ($450,000 million)

    [Drunke ($450,000), Wilm ($450,000)]

Goodbye: Belak($798,00) via a trade for a draft pick, Antropov (to Russia – $1 million)

    McCabe ($3.5 million)_________Klee ($1.9 million)

    Kaberle ($2.28 million)________WOOLLEY ($1 million)

    Pilar ($450,000)______________Colliacovo ($859,000)

    [Berg ($1.1 million)]

    Belfour ($5.6 million)

    [SCHWAB ($750,000)]

Goodbye: Tellqvist ($450,000) via trade for a draft pick

Total for this 23-man roster: $36.7 MILLION

(note: is this anymore realistic for those out there doubting my earlier plan? Again, if the Zetterberg deal doesn’t work out or is too expensive (i.e. more than $3 million) then the Leafs should try and land Anson Carter for $2.5 million. And if you are wondering why I have Tucker and Domi above O’Neill on the right side well it’s just because I want to see the talent on the Leafs’ forward lines spread out more.
