If history is any indication Iron Mike will trade Luongo for older veteran talent. He has made trades like that with every franchise he has held any stroke with. Some have paid off, some not so much. If I was to pick a team just for argument sake I would take the Blues. Florida could get either Tkachuk or Weight as well as Dallas Drake and Lalime for Luongo. Clears room for the Blues to rebuild around a franchise goalie and give’s Iron Mike another couple grey backs, because Iron Mike loves the vets.

The Canadiens should make a trade with St.Louis for Tkachuk and make another move later in the season heading into to the playoffs for an available defenceman. With a big talented forward like Tkachuk on a line with Kovalev and Koivu they would be able to compete with any first line in the nhl.

My logic isn’t flawed. Have you seen how most people have reacted to what the Bruins got for Thornton? O’Connell is getting crucified for not shopping Joe around because they think he could have gotten more from another team. Plus, given how Boston has treated players in the past who have either held out or had rather acrimonious contract negotiations, it was only a matter of time before Thornton was dealt somewhere. Keenan isn’t about to just give Luongo away to the first team to call him, nor is he going to offer him to a single team. As a matter of fact, I’d bet that Luongo ends up in the Western Conference just like Thornton.

when you have a gm that is a complete boob, you start to blurt out things that would make him look good.

I expect the same number of win, maybe a little more or less (1 or 2) but the huge difference would have been in the salary cap, this is where i focus on my point. I don’t say Theo is bad, i just say Theo is overrated because of his salary, also he’s not constent at all. And the Vezina and Hart was in 2001, long time ago… Garon as shown more constency for the number of game he played.

And tell me how many wins would we have right now with Garon instead of Theo. Theo has shown he can handle the pressure of being a full-time starter in Montreal. Garon’s been on and off as a half-time starter in LA. Trading Theo instead of Garon would have been possibly the stupidest move Gainey would have made. Garon having a couple good seasons as backup does not in any way put him at the level of a former Vesina and Hart winner.
