Top prospect to have ACL surgery

Sarnia Sting centre Alex Galchenyuk will undergo surgery this week to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, the team announced Monday.

Galchenyuk, who is one of the top prospects for the 2012 NHL draft, suffered the knee injury Sept. 16th in a pre-season game against the Windsor Spitfires.

“Unfortunately injuries like this are a part of the game. Our thoughts are solely with Alex at this time as this was very difficult news to receive,” Sting general manager Jacques Beaulieu said in a release. “We will be providing Alex with the best care possible as he begins his rehab towards getting back on the ice.”

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. He's still my pick for the best prospect in this draft.
