however, i am dealing with the flawed thought process and illogical comparisons of this post:

comparing this situation to the lindros deal is just plain stupid.

suggesting that the nords left cuz they traded lindros is even more stupid.

but thinking that if malkin is for sale that montreal can automatically and exclusively offer the best deal is the most presumptious load of bs ever printed on this site.

ryder would do fine with crosby. but think of the numbers hejduk,gagne or any All-Star caliber wing would put up with Crosby.

and for that matter think of the numbers malkin himself could put up with crosby. and malkin will be cheaper for more years than ryder or anyone else already in the NHL.

bottom line – there is no reason to assume, as this author mistakenly attempts to portray, that:

(1)the pens have any motivation to trade malkin (this isn’t a lindros refuses to play situation)
(2) montreal can make the best offer

it is reasonable to assume that montreal asked about malkin and would move any number of players to get him

1- The Penguins don’t need a goaltender… Marc Andre Fleury

2- They don’t need another skilled center in Rebeiro- Armstrong and some kid named Crosby

3- They don’t need a D-man who will be unrestricted at the end of the year and who would leave

4- Ryder they could use. Ryder would become a 40-45 goal scorer playing with Crosby

The only way this trade would happen is if the Habe throw in Komisarek, and I hope to god they don’t. I have a feeling that Komisarek is going to get a lot of comparrisons to Rod Langway.

I don’t completely disagree with you, I just think your roundabout logic doesn’t enlighten the subject any further.

Besides, can you imagine the numbers that Ryder would put up playing on a line with Crosby?

If this trade would be (which I don’t think)

it would be great for Montreal.

Ryder leaving / Dumont in… so that is kif-kif

then ribs gone / Malkin in… better (for MTL)

souray gone (UFA next year?) / streit or coté in on last D line with 5-10 min. of ice

Aibesher gone / Danis in (C.Price right behind.

And for the pens, well its a team builder!!! they need some D real bad, they need a N.1 goalie, they need a wing.

this is possibly the dumbest thing i ever read. the nords traded lindros, cuz lindros refused to play for him, not cuz they needed depth. this shows that whoever wrote this has less than minimal hockey knowledge.

lindros was auctioned to the highest bidder – remember the rangers also offered a ton for him. if malkin is going to be moved, there will definately be an auction and who is to say that montreal has the best package.

while malkin may prove to be as good as lindros, there is no way to suggest that some combo of Hab second liners is as good an offer as Forsberg, four playres, two draft picks and $15 million cash.

i am being hugely charitable when i say that only a drunk moron on mushrooms could make a comparison between an alleged lowball offer from montreal for malkin and the lindros auction.

as an aside,
the pens are up for sale – are the pens worth more with Malkin and Crosby together or with Crosby and some no-name former Habs?

and to suggest that the nords moved to colorado b/c of lindros is the only thing that could possibly supplant the utter stupidity of the lindros comparison
