if i was bob gainey i would have signed peter forseburg,jason allison,jason blake or paukaria. man it sucks i think we might finish 6th just a guess.

The question discussed is how to rate Gainey's performance as a GM. I don't take all this crap about 5-yaer plan,this is a hockey team,not a socialist econmical plan.I wouldn't blame Gainey for lack of trying to get Briere, but obviously he doesn't have a clout to bring decent players to his team.They don't want to play for him because they know perfectly well that they going to be surrounded by low-skill plumbers who Gainey openly adores,and sings and drafts them eagerly.Briere doesn't want to play with Murrays,Downies and Johnsson[last year)and Kostopulos,Smolinski,etc.Players like Briere see the tendency who Gainey signs and drafts and stay away from the team destined for mediocrity for forseeble future as long as Gainey is a GM. How cold he not draft either Esposito nor Cherepanov and just ONE player from QMJHL?How could he NOT trade Surray at the trade dead line and reap alot of prospects and/or picks wersus loose him for nothing,ditto for Bonk and Jojnson and other potential UFA's.He traded Rivet who loved to play in Mtl,and he became the best D-man for a good Sharks team,who signed him to 4-year deal.Any GM could miss once in a while,but missing all the time?Remember Samsonov,and now Hamrlik,hugely overpaid and 4-years? 35-year old Smolinski instead of younger and chipper Robitaille?And who needs Kostopulos,whose onlly ability is to keep the room loose,when there vis Ferland for half the money ,your own pick and nuch younger.Too many misse.Bring back Andre Savard!
