If the habs are wining, why trade anybody? I am a big Koivu fan, and he is the face of the team right now. If you trade him, this could upset the current team. I say we give Saku whatever he wants. I want to show some loyalty to players, if he tells the Habs he wants a trade, then accomodate him, if not let him finish what he has started in Montreal. I beleive Saku wants to win a cup in Montreal, so lets let him be part of that, I think he has earned it.

Koivu doesn't look or play the same this year. He seems distracted.

This year Kovalev has put the team on his back. He should be wearing the "C". Koivu is great and has been through alot in Montreal.

I can see Gainey trading him and then bringing him back when he is a UFA.

He won't be traded, especially if Montreal is in a good position to make the playoffs.

Gainey and Gilette love Koivu, It wouldn't happen unless they are getting a Top prospect in return and they are out of playoff contention.

Could we use Perezhogin in a trade, I heard he was doing pretty good, just to make a deal more appealing ?

I like the idea to trade for 1st round picks, because honestly the ppl that are up for grabs are unreal. Stamkos, Doughty, Schenn, D.Toews, Boychuk, Beach, the list goes on. If we got stamkos we would be set, thats like having a staal on our team or even dare i say it, a malkin.

Did anybody saw Kostitsyn goal against the Caps!!! Unreal! It would be nice to see him back on the line with Higgins and Plek. Since he(A. Kostitsyn AKA . "SPECIAL K") is a natural right winger same with his brother. Ryder should be on the left as he shout right and has played on the left a few times.

Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev
Latends-Lapierre-Kostitsyn
Begin- Chipchura-Kostopoulos (Checking Line)

This would give us 3 offensive lines and that first line would be pretty fast if you ask me!

We can't afford to trade Koivu right now if another center doesn't come our way. Since there isn't any big name center on this summer UFAs list besides Sakic and Sundin and I doubt that either one will sign with Montreal it would be a mistake to trade Koivu who isn't a our first line center but still captain and leader, besides we sure as hell don't need Wingers and/or defensemen and we know our goalie situation, What we need is a Center, period!!!!

Koivu only cost us 4.750 000 mil/year, and will become UFA the same year as Kovalev and Komisarek, that same year Higgins, A, Kostitsyn and Plekanec are RFA so if we are going to sign someone it will be to a short term cause as soon as next year guys like Komo, Higgy, Plek and Kostitsyn won't be cheap anymore.

   So maybe try to sign a veteran center for 2 years, and trade our UFAs before the deadline so we could get something for them unlike Souray last year! Even if we make the playoffs "I" think that we can still afford to trade Huet, Ryder and Smolinski by the deadline, even if Smolinski has a NTC, I'm sure he would wave it after sitting for most the season.

   This is our line up next season after UFAs leaves and predicting we resign Streit and Lapierre, doesn't make much of a dent in the line-up but we would have lots of cash leftover!

Huet's cap hit                     =       2.875 000
Ryder's cap hit                    =       2.950 000
Smolinski's cap hit               =       2.000 000

                                     TOTAL= 12. 973 000 millions of free cap space

Hopefully Gainey will be able to unload maybe one of those too Begin, Dandenault , Kostopoulos , with Lapierre , Chipchura and Streit we don't need that many 3/4th liners. This is the line up without our soon to be UFAs, assuming we only keep Streit.

   We could also trade another defenseman since guys like Valentenko, Subban, Yemelin, Weber, Carle and Fisher will be ready to jump up and letting go of our UFAs before the deadline would leave us in an exelent position comes Draft day and the day the UFAs market opens!

Huet, Dandeault= somewhere for 1st rounder

Ryder and maybe Smolinski if waves is NTC = somewhere for a 1st rounder

Imagine getting 2 more first rounders for guys who won't have a spot in our line-up comes next season!
