I’m not suggesting they would do the trade, but it’s a trade I would be comfortable with. Basically, you take a player and contract we’re not using and we will take yours(similar ages as well). Maybe both will be beter off in a new system and environment. Otherwise, Whitney is not a “need” for us.IMO

forget who do you sit, who do you waive? Not worth it IMO. Whitney for Komisarek obviously I would do but Edmonton sure as hell would not.

If the Oilers were willing to do Whitney for Komisarek, I would do it. Otherwise, another $5mil underachieving defencemen is not really what we need.IMO I would rather keep that cap space for something of need if it happens.ie Big centerman or winger.
Smyth is the kind of guy that would be cool to have and is a great leader and playoff guy. I’m not sure if we have an opening for him though…who do you sit? Especially when Lupul gets back.

What would the Oilers want for Whitney? He’s a good defenceman when he’s on his game. Hell I’d take Ryan Smyth’s veteran presence if he’s available.
