I strongly agree with your proposal sending Koivu away for another first or second line center. I have been a fan of Koivu,s also for a number of years and I believe his time has come. The canadiens seem to keep giving big salaries to players who then begin to sit on their money or don't play as well as they did, I believe Koivu seems to be going down that road. sitting on 4.5mil a year. Tanguay deal sounds good to me but I believe what happened to ribeiro becoming dallas' star player, might happen to micheal Ryder. Ive tagged Ryder and Higgins as prospects the last few years and i believe he is only having a bad season. Gainey will have to find some good solutions but i believe it's time to move in and make a few changes while we have the chance, Many great young players for the futur,
P.S. Guillaume Latendresse does not deserve to play for the canadiens, He is a big player who doesnt hit, he can't skate for crap, and he can't get his damn stick on down on the ice. He might have something like 12 goals, but if he hadnt missed all the chances he's had he,d be in the high 20s. I am strongly for Quebecer players on the montreal canadiens, being a quebecer myself, I believe he does not have his place on this team.

oh yea…im not disputing that…i was just saying that i don't like him that much….i find as if much of his success has come from playing with great linemates….im not sure if he himself is much of a booster for other players…however i don't know too much about tanguay so that may be wrong…

sanj91 that's why this rumored deal for tanguay makes sense it won't cost us 7+million at 5.2 for tanguay for next season allows us the option to resign him or not and as well as kovalev and koivu so if we don't resign any of these guys there will be plenty of money and cap space to reign ,higgins,komisarek,and plekanec!!tanguay is an excellent top 6 forward that we need right now!!with and and koivu together with higgins that at line would awesome!!

I've never been a big Tanguay fan….as for the all-star, that was the point of my article….we can't afford a star (7M+) as well as resign Higgins, Komisarek, Streit, and Huet (which I think we should do)…..

Koivu isn't the problem. If Ryder was producing like he was last year Koivu would have about 10 more points than he has now.

Koivu being traded would send a horrible message to the team.....Unless they trade him for a center like Lecavalier/Richards/Thornton/Whoever!

Koivu won't be traded....Hes Montreal's Captain!

Gainey will bring in a Top-Six foward.....The Tanguay deal sounds ok!

Good point but we could get a star if need be for koivu and a pick. Aswell Jokinen has been all the talk in Florida bout him not living up 2 his potential etc… Koivu for Jokinen? would be nice.
