Zherdev is an extremely talented winger, as anyone who has spent any time watching this young man play can attest to. The biggest problem in his play is his defensive style (or lack of). Hitch demands a physical style of play that Nikki is just not willing to conform to. Anyone watching the Cup playoffs can see that this style of play is what will win us a playoff race. The biggest problem in his personal life is that his love interests carry over into his game and have essentially created a "team cancer". Maturity, which involves time, is the only answer. I'm not sure an organization who has struggled through six losing seasons is going to be willing to sit back and wait for puberty to run its course.
