Lindros Debut as a Ranger; Blackburn is Burning Hot; Richter Surprises

The Big E impressed some Rangers fans, while Blackburned burned the Devils youngsters, and Richter is making a huge surprise, no…not Mike Richter, Martin Richter.

Goalies, Goalies Everywhere.

Goaltender. Like the pitcher in baseball or the quarterback in football, a goalie can win or lose games almost by himself. You can have a bad team and still have a great goalie, like Florida. But you can’t possibly have a Stanley Cup winning team without the goaltending to go with it. Some teams need goalies right now and some teams have too many…

Puck Sight (Sept. 19)

Our resident Red Wings fan, “Aaron” forwarded a local Detroit article to me about Chris Osgood that really changed my perspective on the guy. I’ll outline the article for you all, and toss in some thoughts aswell.

Your Vancouver Canucks Pre-season Report

“… Bertuzzi in front, Druken SCORES!!! Standing O for Harold Druken, 3:19 of overtime, and the Canucks are on their way to the playoffs!!”

Hlinka to be fired?

After the Penguins lost the Eastern Conference Championship last season to the Devils the Penguins returned to their practice facility south of Pittsburgh to clear out their lockers and leave for the off-season.

Marleau Signs With Sharks

Patrick Marleau signed a one year deal with the San Jose Sharks, worth 1.3 million dollars. There is a high possibility that Marleau will play on a line with former Might Duck scorer Teemu Selanne, and former Rangers power forward Adam Graves.

Skudra Ties Hasek, Legace Gets Blackburned

How did Hasek perform? How did the young Rangers play against the young Red Wings? This game was brutal, yet a great pre-season opener.

Wild Win Opener On Road

The Minnesota Wild didn’t play the trap and lit the lamp 6 times on route to recording their first win of the preseason against the Edmonton Oilers last night.

The Leafs Look real bad in 3-0 loss.

In a night where the Habs put out a bunch of young players the Leafs were supose to put on a show in Newfoundland. Well that was not the case as Toronto was shut out and out played.

Nedved To Habs?

The NY Post reported today that the Canadiens, who are now lacking a #1 centre, have reported interest in Petr Nedved. The Rangers are reported to have interest in a few Habs, including: Mike Komisarek (D), Sheldon Souray (D), Chad Kilger (C), Craig Darby (C), and goalie Jeff Hackett. Who knows if this deal will happen, but with Messier & Lindros on the top 2 lines and Mike York as your top checking centre, it looks as if Nedved would be the odd man out.

Oilers Pounded by U of A

There has been a long standing tradition in Edmonton that a team consisting of would-be rookies plays a game against the University of Alberta team. Sunday night’s matchup was an embarrassing loss for the Oiler wannabes as they were pounded by the UofA Golden Bears 7-2.

Oilers looking for goals… Sens looking for grit… A deal to be made?

It seems like a natural fit. The Oilers have too many forwards, too many who fill the same role. Grit and checking is their game. The Oil have too few gifted passers or forwards with the much needed offensive flare. In the Sens, what has been painfully obvious is that the team Europe approach doesn’t work. The right mix of brute force and talent is needed. The Sens honestly don’t have the needed grit to make it out of the first round in a gritty eastern conference.

Nedved Re-signs With Rangers

Nedved re-signed with the Rangers, terms were undisclosed. ESPN reported this news, without the length of the contract.
