Minnesota Tired of Waiting on Koivu. Target Comrie

Apparently tired of waiting on Saku Koivu to make a decision, the Minnesota Wild have turned their attention else where.

What will next season's Penguins look like?

Here is the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins’ probable lineup going into next season, with possible signings to fill holes. Please feel free to post depth charts/line combinations for any other teams you know of.

Canucks Sign Samuelsson

TSN Reports:

The Vancouver Canucks made their first move in the free agent market, adding winger with a three-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.”Obviously that (the money) was the key, I shouldn’t lie,” Samuelsson said in a telephone conference call Friday after signing a three-year NHL deal with Vancouver.

Sens interested in Maxim Afinogenov

The Sens have shown a slight interest in the speedy winger and that could be what Bryan Murray is looking for to help him get a top 6 forward. Maxim Afinogenov is comming off a bad season where he was demoted to the 4th line of the sabres.

Pronger extended

Chris Pronger just got a huge new extention from the Flyers, thats would see him playing untill he is atleast 42 years old….

Kovalev to ask Heatley to Stay.

Kovalev has landed in Ottawa with a massive bang. He has claimed he beleives with his addition the Sens can win the Cup, and he has come out and said he wants Heatley to stay, saying the team needs him to win and will be better off to keep him than let him go, he’ll go so far as to call Heatley and see if he can’t make things better and start to repair a fractured relationship.

saku koivu signs in anaheim

tsn.ca is reporting that saku koivu has signed a 1year 3.25 million dollar contract with the anaheim ducks

Senators trade Auld to Stars

The Ottawa Senators today traded journeyman goaltender Alex Auld to the Dallas Stars for a sixth round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Auld had a decent season for the Sens, going 16-18-7 with a 2.47 GAA and .911 Save % on a team which never recovered from Gerber’s bad start. This trade can mean one of several things:

NO DEPTH OR SIZE AT CENTRE

With the losses of Kovalev and Komisarek, the Habs will be hard pressed to fill the voids. However, by letting Koivu go, as expected, they now have to fill yet another spot down the middle. Gainey and the Habs need to lay to rest the Lecavalier rumors once and for all. To be forgiven for allowing fan favorite Kovalev go, Gainey will have to pull off a miracle….Vinny may be the only miracle for forgiveness in La Belle Provence.

Leafs TraDe Bait

Common sense tells us that the Leafs will trade at least 1 of their Dmen away to get a forward(s). Brian Burke was on TheFan 590 today and did absolutely nothing to dismiss these rumors.
I suggest we look at a couple options about what we could get in return for some of them.
First off lets look at Toronto Defencemen

Who stays? Who goes?

It had been a busy week for the Maple Leafs. Bryan Burke has done a great job so far but he has definatly set himself up for future trades and possible buyouts. So far this week he has accomplished in no perticular order..

Signing Mike Komiserak 5-year, 22.5 million contract
Signing Francois Beauchemin 3-year, 11.4 million contract
Signing Jonas the MONSTER Gustavsson 1-year, 900k contract
Signing Colton Orr 4-year, 4 million contract
Re-signed Mikhail Grabovski 3-year, 8.7 million contract
Traded Pavel Kubina to ATL for Garnett Exelby and Colin Stuart
Also re-signed Ben Ondrus (Marlies captain) and a couple others

Trade Sense

As a leaf fan, I cannot see how our team is going to penalty kill let alone score goals. One thing that I think Burkie should do is this:

Jordan Stall
for
Tomas Kaberle

New identity Habs

With the departure of captain Saku Koivu now official, the team habs fans have supported (or critizised) through thick and thin has now been all but dissolved. Although this change in personnel could’ve been seen coming a mile away, most fans would’ve expected more than what Gainey has put together. What’s even more discouraging is the salaries of the newly signed players leave next to no room for improvement.
