It looks to me this team would flourish and thrive if Carlyle is canned.

This team would be middle of the pack or slightly better if it clicked on all cylinders.

Eklund is reporting that the Leafs are after a substantial asset. He’s pointing towards Thornton. He says San Jose wants Gardiner +.

Also the Leafs are apparently interested in Antoine Vermette and Keith Yandle. Arizona wants Kadri for both players and a pick. I have no idea where all this cap space is coming from, but things could get interesting.

I would rather have Staal then Thornton…

There is no way Nonis does this with SJ, IMO and less chance Shanahan lets it happen.

As for Arz, not sure I see that being able to happen and Yandle does nothing to solve our woes on D. Unless it is to say flip Gardiner for a Centre and now we are way to complicated here lol.

Kessel scores and the Leafs win, so we want to trade him?

Morgan Rielly looked great again last night. Maybe Burke wasn’t full of shit when he said he would have taken him first overall, he might be the best in that draft class. Read an article and apparently he is around 215 this year and a beast in the gym.

Also William Nylander is torching the Swedish elite League. That league is no joke, and for an 18 year old to be putting up over a point a game, pretty impressive.

    • Gambo says:

You know it’s true, Rielly could very likely be the best of that draft. Nylander and Rielly are two solid building blocks and will be key to the future. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Rielly be the captain one day.

      • leafy says:

Morgan Rielly is the Leafs best skating defenceman since Bryan Berard.

      • TmLeafan says:

Ya very excited about Rielly he just has that effortless amazing skating stride that seems to come naturally.

To put the year Nylander is having in perspective he has 9 points in 7 games.

Niklas Backstrom had 40 points in 45 games playing in the Swedish Elite League the year after he was drafted.

    • leafs_wallace93 says:

I dunno, all I read on HFboards is Maata this and Trouba that… they Rielly isn’t that big of a deal…

Srs though, SEL vs OHL? Sorry Don but have you been to an OHL game lately? Ever team has a few kids that look like there 11 years old and scared to go in the corners, block a shot ect….

    • lafleur10 says:

remember the name ALEX GALCHENYUK he’s the best player in that draft class and will be the best player by far from that class

      • LN91 says:

It will be a battle between those 2 for sure. To say Galchenyuk or Reilly is the best of that draft is a bit premature…

      • leafs_wallace93 says:

Well he was draft my Montreal so duh, course he’ll be the gosh darn best, it’s super obvi

  6. LN91 says:

Eklund asked, “Whose the scariest player in the league?”

And I thought…Dion for sure, have you ever seen him handle a puck? SCARY.
