Lightning would like to trade Carle
Among the worst-kept secrets in the NHL is that the Lightning would like to trade Carle, a move that would clear $5.5 million off Tampa Bay’s salary cap. But Carle has two seasons on his contract beyond this season, a road block in trying to work out a deal with another team.
He has a modified no-trade clause in his contract, but he has not been approached by the Lightning about it since submitting a list of acceptable teams before the season.
Still, Carle’s preference is to stay. He arrived in Tampa on a rebuilding team that turned into a Stanley Cup contender and still sees himself as a part of the team’s success, even as he’s been a healthy scratch nine times this season, including six of the past 11 games.
