Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round (2nd overall) in 2001, Jason Spezza has been known around Ottawa, and most of the NHL as one of the top young stars in the NHL. Jason has a wealth of playmaking talent. He also uses his size and reach very well in the offensive zone and he displays all the tools to eventually be a great No. 1 center. Amassing 54 points in Binghamton of the AHL and 21 points as a member of the Ottawa Senators, Jason Spezza will now finally, and deservadly recieve his shot on the Sens lineup.

Preamble: Well this is the second time I am submitting this article because frankly I think it needs to be posted. With all the negative things going on in the game right now, namely the CBA crisis, I think it is about time that something positive gets said about the game, and further, something that will re-kindle our strong feelings for the sport we love.

It must have gotten into GM Mike O’Connel’s brain that the Bruins need major defensive help, and re-signed Nick Boynton to a two-year deal, various reports stated.

Rangers claim Carolina Hurricane’s top rated prospect Jeff Heerema off of waivers. The 23 year old right-wing was drafted 11th overall in the 1998 draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Sabres Winger Miro Satan signed.

Last year before the season they had everyone’s lists of predictions. These predictions are great to write, read about now, call people crazy for their predictions, and come back to in May and see who was right and wrong.

Dear HTR members,

I have gathered a team of our best, well known, and respected members to contribute to HTR’s 2nd year Season Preview of the 2002-2003 season. Why do we do it so late? Because I myself can’t stand buying a Season preview magazine that is already out of date.

For the last three years, we have been witnessing booing sessions on Brisebois’ behalf.

The Maple Leafs have signed Ken Klee to a one-year deal. The 6 foot defenseman helps bring some more stability to the weak defense corps.
