“Sources say Dany Heatley has been asked to waive his no-trade clause to go to Edmonton in exchange for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid.

Calgary Flames general manager Darryl Sutter made the most of his opportunity to negotiate with Jay Bouwmeester.

As reported from tsn.a/nhl

The Montreal Canadiens have obtained Scott Gomez, winger Tom Pyatt and defenceman Mike Busto from the New York Rangers FOR winger Chris Higgins and defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko from the Montreal Canadiens.

Oilers and Kings to swing a big deal?

PAT HICKEY, The Gazette

With the Vincent-Lecavalier-to-Montreal rumours laid to rest for at least another week, expect the Canadiens’ focus to turn to Swedish twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

Talks between the Sedins and the Vancouver Canucks have stalled and it appears they will be on the open market when they become unrestricted free agents tomorrow. The Sedins won’t come cheap – they are looking for long-term deals worth at least $6.5 million a season each – but Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey has more than $30 million available to go shopping.

Don't expect Habs to jump on big UFAs

By RED FISHER, The Gazette

Was it only a week ago that Canadiens fans were twisting themselves out of shape celebrating reports that a “blockbuster deal” was in the works at the draft? You may remember Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey was suggesting (wink! wink!) a deal was a real possibility heading into Friday’s NHL entry draft.

Devils to let Madden and Gionta become UFA’s

Pens ink Guerin and Adams, others are a wait game.

Wings, Marian Hossa still talking

Kings looking to sign a big name UFA

As we approach July 1st, rumors are running rampant on players being signed here, or players being traded their, players be pursued by this team or players being let go by that team. This is exciting for fans of any team, and can also be a let down for others. Bur i will try to show 10 things to all fans that will not be happening this offseason

The Montreal Canadiens in the 2009/2010 season will likely look different then the one that just finished last season. But will there be more new faces from outside the organization than inside? Everyone speak of how Bob Gainey needs to sign many players to ice a team next season, in all reality the Canadiens could ice an a team of NHL players, it would just be many young players who got a taste last season needing to step it up.

Heatley-Phaneuf rumour

Mark Spector – Sportsnet.ca

So, here’s the rumour:

The Calgary Flames add Jay Bouwmeester, then flip Dion Phaneuf to Ottawa for Dany Heatley.

They lose some offence from the blue-line in the transaction, but bring in a local boy who scores 50 goals up front. And the salary cap hit in losing Phaneuf and gaining Heatley only costs GM Darryl Sutter $1 million.

Time to move on!!

I don’t know about the rest of you fans, but I think it is time to forget about Vinny and time to look elsewhere. As much as he would have been nice to have and may have helped attract other UFA’s, Philly has just pushed his price even higher after over paying for a 34 year old Pronger.
I think that trade may have put a lot of potential trades on hold. The only thing possibly working in Gainey’s favour would be that at least one of the owners in Tampa wants to spend to the cap floor. Which owner will get his way?
