Avs cut loose Keane
According to the Avalanche spokesman Hayne Ellis, the team has bought out the final year on the contract of the 36-year-old Mike Keane. The move ends the second stint with the Avalanche for Keane.
Could this be a cost-cutting move to maybe acquire a veteran goalie, like Potvin? But probably just to clear room for prospects and the new signings of Kariya and Selanne.
May Resigns with Vancouver.
The Vancouver Canucks re-signed unrestricted free agent Brad May to a two-year contract. The physical winger was unable to reach agreement with the Canucks after the season ended and hit the free-agent market July 1. But the Canucks were able to reel him in.
Marchment Signs With Toronto
Bryan Marchment has just signed a 1-year $2 Mil deal with the Leafs.

Pat Morris, Greg de Vries’ agent, mentioned to the Toronto Star that de Vries will sign in the next 48 hours.
According to Fan590, Curtis Joseph will not accept a trade to the Boston Bruins. The big team now in this situation are the St. Louis Blues.
Thrashers prospect camp opens up today and will run through July 19. Hartnell signs, Arkhipov close
The Predators came to terms with one of their important restricted free agents, winger Scott Hartnell on July 9. Terms were not disclosed, however the Nashville Tennessean reported that Hartnell likely accepted a qualifying offer of $1.18 million by the team.
Coyotes sign Hulse
According to SlamSports.com the Phoenix Coyotes have signed rugged defenseman Cale Hulse. The deal is said to be a multi-year deal.
