What's happening to the Canucks?! West playoff race tight!

The Canucks now officially have the worst record in the last 10 games, going 2-7-1, which has pushed them out of the playoffs for the first time since October. Only St. Louis and Florida, having gone 3-5-2 and Atlanta 3-4-3 are close to as bad. This is not a good time to be going on a losing streak for the Canucks.

What can they do, if anything, to get back on form? Trade for Sundin now? Give up their future for a chance to make the playoffs? Or scuttle the season?

Sundin and Fletcher talking?

TSN is reporting that Maple Leafs center Mats Sundin has been talking to Cliff Fletcher about his future with the Leafs. What should Mats do?

Atlantic Division KILLING the Penguins!

I want to start by saying how happy I am that the NHL finally remedied their atrocious schedule for next year. Having said that, I did an interesting study of the Penguins and how well they would be doing if they didn’t have to play in their own division. I used Montreal, a team that’s been neck-in-neck with the Penguins all season, as a foil.

There are some interesting numbers in there, I suggest you check it out!

Hawks may try to move Halvat

The Daily Herard is suggesting that the Black Hawks and Martin Havlat may soon part company.

Tampa looking for a new goalie

The Tampa Bay Lightning are is search of a new number one goalie.

Leafs are forced to trade.

The Leaf trade deadline situation has the Leafs against a fence forcing them to make a trade. This is because the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the largest fan based NHL teams in the league. Not having a monster scoring first line up like the top contenders have the leafs looking very small. The Leafs Need a fix but are in rough shape to make it no matter how desperate they are. If the leafs were to make a move and possibly trade Sundin it would not be enough alone. trading an older player near retirement is not worth a Top player and draft pick, which the leafs would expect and nothing less.

Mats Standin Tall

Hey Listen, it’s me Gretzkin, and I know that nobody wants another Maple Leafs article and I’d rather discuss how hot Garon is in in the shootouts, how I’m really enjoying the Oilers this year as their living up to their marginal expectations, yet remaining competitive and putting on a good show, but…

I’m really digging Mats Sundin’s stance on the whole firesale of the Leafs.
He’s truly a super great Captain and wants the best for HIS team, given what he’s had to work with.

It’s about 26 days until the NHL trade deadline, and alot of rumors have been going around Leafs land that Sundin will be traded.

Best 3 Million Dollar Man

Heres a list of some players who make around 3 mil per so lets see who the best is.

Kovalchuk injured! Thrashers out of the playoff hunt?

In Atlanta’s 4-1 victory over the Penguins, Ilya Kovalchuk was injured by a knee from none other than Jarkko Ruutu. Kovalchuk went down midway through the second period, tried to return for a Thrashers’ powerplay, only to skate extremely gingerly, and leave the game again. The Thrashers said only that Kovalchuk had a leg injury and wouldn’t return.
If I had to guess I’d say he’d be out 1-2 weeks, but it could be much much longer. The Thrashers, especially their PP, looked lost without Kovalchuk, and one has to wonder if they have a realistic shot of winning their division without their All-Star forward.

Various sources are reporting that Darren McCarty may on his way back to the Red Wings.

Canada's Teams So Far!

So a quick look a which Canadian teams have a legitimate shot at being a contender come playoff time…

Studs or Duds!

(Yes TSN uses the same term…)
