Burke shopping Sykora?

From Sportsnet.ca

Anaheim general manager Brian Burke has circulated yet another fax updating the status of Petr Sykora.
Burke, clearly trying to encourage other managers to window shop in an effort to move Sykora and his $3-million salary, alerted teams that Sykora will be in Anaheim’s lineup on Saturday versus Atlanta.

The Great Dao of Steve

As we know, Steve Yzerman, along with a handful of great superstar veterans have been struggling with this new NHL format. That being said, Detroit Red Wing captain; Steve Yzerman has a tough decision to make.

Ozolinsh a Hab?

Team 990 reports that Montreal Canadiens might be looking to get a hand on Sandis Ozolinsh of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Could be logic, Souray is out with injury, Markov is suspended, and Komisarek is out for family problems, and now Ron Hainsey is gone to Columbus.

Ron Hainsey Wears a Blue Jacket.

In the wake of the 3 game suspension to Andrei Markov for abuse of an official the Montreal Canadiens decided to call up defenseman Ron Hainsey. Upon calling up Hainsey, he would have had to have cleared re-entry waivers to play for the Montreal Canadiens, but he did not. Today the Montreal Canadiens lost young defenseman Ron Hainsey on waivers to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

A Choice of Youngsters

Me and a someone I know (a Bruin’s fan) have had a debate as to who is a better player to have on your team/to build a team around: Kyle Wellwood or Patrice Bergeron. I’m curious to see everyone’s thoughts especially from non Leaf or Bruin fans. I’ve included some stats.:)

Hockey Trade Rumors – Latest Roundup

The latest round up of hockey trade rumors. Some of the latest rumors involve Roberto Luongo, Brendan Witt, Jason Allison, Ed Jovanovski, Dan Cloutier and Doug Weight.

Lack of officiating consistency

I have been a fan of the NHL since 1990. However, I am questioning my commitment to the league because of deplorable officiating. During the 10 years of clutch and grab hockey, the officiating, for the most part, was consistent. You knew that only the most egregious infractions were going to be called because refs did not bother to call borderline infractions. In this year’s rendition of the NHL, one does not know what the refs are going to be like from game to game. The prime example was last night’s game between Montreal and Toronto.

Another 1st Round Exit?

The New York Islanders have been knocked out of the NHL playoffs, in the first round, the past two seasons. Many people feel it will happen for a third straight season this year.
