Messier, Yzerman, Francis linked to Leafs GM post: Report

Toronto quietly looking to replace Fergie

There might actually be a reason why the Maple Leafs have yet to sack John Ferguson Jr. They’re looking for a big name replacement.

Bruce Garrioch of the Sun reports that some of the big names being discussed include 3 NHL legends: Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman and Ron Francis.

It kills me to see the leafs in such chaos right now. It kills me to even look at the boxscores when i see the leafs losing to a team like phoenix…. I’m very frustrated right now with the entire organization with their performances at every level: ownership, front office, coaching, players. The leafs entered the season with much optimism with expectations to make the playoffs, but all seems very dim now. I know that the leafs are out of 8th place by a few points and that it is only about 1/4 of the season, I can only hope that the leafs will change things around. Lets look at the levels of the leafs organization and how we can possibly fix it.

Maurice on his way out…JFJ too?

Maurice on His Way Out Of Toronto?

My typical Saturday night starts out with me taking the girlfriend out for supper then back home to watch the Leafs play.(lucky her eh?) And now most of the time ends with grief as the losses mount. But I noticed some tidbits that were aired that I wanted to pass on.

All-Star Balloting a Joke? Agree/Disagree.

According to the NHL, the hockey operations department puts together the final ballot in late October/early November, so why is Tampa Bay’s Dan Boyle, an Eastern defenseman candidate (only played four games this year due to injury), but Pittsburgh’s Sergei Gonchar (leading all NHL blueliners in scoring, and on pace for 86 points) is not?

The article also mentions the snubbing of Volchenkov and the absurdity of Cheechoo on the ballot.

It's Official, The Leafs Suck

After getting blown out by the Washington Capitals, and the Phoenix Coyotes, two of the worst teams in the league, it’s time to fire JFJ.

Was the trade Rask for Raycroft another dumb move by JFJ? OF COURSE!!

I have to admit, Raycroft USED to be a good goaltender (being a former calder trophy winner). But why trade Rask, he is pretty good for a young guy like him! I think that was the dumbest trade JFJ has ever made! Yes, Raycroft was a good goalie in Boston but now he is playing like he doesn’t care. Rask and Pogge were their future in goaltending.

Habs need a heavyweight

After watching the game against the Isles on Wednesday, it became clear to me that the Habs are in desperate need of a heavyweight fighter. It’s fine that Komisarek drops the gloves from time to time, but when he has to start going toe to toe with the likes of Chris Simon and Brendan Witt, well that’s another story. Not that I don’t think that he can hold his own with them, but if the Isles loose one of those guys to injury it’s no big lose, if the Habs loose Komi to injury, well I don’t even want to think of that. Tom Kostopulos is more of a middle weight, he can’t take on heavyweights. If the Habs do get a fighter he doesn’t have to play every game, and I’m sure that the skill guys would play with much more confidence knowing they have some muscle if need be. It seems that every team in the east beside Montreal has a “tough guy”

The Turn Around

When the Thrashers started the season 0-6 no one really believed they could turn it around. I mean, sure, you could get a couple of wins, but still they thought at the bottom of the league is where they would stay, but NO.

Who will the Canucks go after?

Pretty much everyone who knows anything about the Vancouver Canucks, knows they need help up front. So who can they go after to add to their top six forwards?

Montreal Canadiens Revelations

Hi All,

The first quarter of the season flew by and it’s time to analyze the Habs great start to the 2007-2008 season. In my opinion, the are 5 revelations so far this season.

Shake up time?

With the Leaf’s season already off to a rocky start but not gone or out of reach by any means I believe now is the time to make a deal, or a shake up deal which will totally change how this team goes out an plays every night. I also believe the leaf’s have a possible trade partner in the SJ Sharks. Who have an already great team, thats way under cap, an would love to improve.

Possible ” Shake up ” deal.To SJ: -Sundin, McCabe, Tor’s 2rdp 2008

To Tor: -Marleau, McLaren.

Rumor: Burns to replace Maurice?

The latest rumor out of Toronto has former Maple Leafs coach Pat Burns possibly taking over the head coaching duties from Paul Maurice.

According to Rich Chere of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Burns could replace Maurice if the Leafs do not improve their performance over the next little while.

A similar report by Rosie Dimanno appeared this week in the Toronto Star.

This is how I see JFJ.

This is how I see JFJ based on the signings and trades he has made since taking over as GM of Toronto Maple Leafs.
