Hockey Trade Rumors

It is no secret that San Jose is in desperate need of scoring and the GM is close to pulling the trigger on a trade to address that need. It has been previously reported that Martin Havlat was on his way to San Jose, but coach Brian Murray and GM John Muckler have quickly dissmissed those rumors saying they are very content with their team as of late and do not want to disrupt team chemistry.

Spectors hockey and Mojo radio (in Vancouver) report that Mike Keenan was at a recent Canucks game. Nonis denies the rumors of moving star players…

According to the Ottawa Sun the sharks were interested in Martin Havlat a month ago. their have been rumours that Muckler does not like Havlat especially after the kicking incident but he knows that he is a very important part of the club, but Muckler says he will not trade any time soon, atleast not till after christmas. but ever since Havlat was suspended that sharks seemed to be less interested.

Usually at this time of the year, we would wait before jumping on trade rumors. All teams needs time to evaluate their staff, but this year is so different that a few teams are in urgent need for specific style of players. Based on daily reports taken on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette website, same as for the Forecaster, here’s a list of teams and suggested needs. Some suggested by the staff, some added by me.

Free Agent List Updated August 4th, 2005

According to reports on The Fourth Period, it looks like both Shanahan and Yzerman are going to be staying with the Red Wings. Yzerman was offered a 1 year deal and Shanahan picked up his player option. It was rumoured that Shanny would not exercise the option and head to boston where his wife is from. Though a huge boost to the club, the most important two guys to lock up are Zetterberg and Datsyuk both RFAs. That may take them the entire rest of the offseason to figure out and may hurt their chances at acquiring players as they will need to fit those two young stars under the cap

Here are some more rumours going around as we near the draft and the free agency season.

In Anaheim, the Ducks are looking to shop the 2nd overall pick and are looking at getting either another first rounder and a player or an established player that will make an impact. i could see them wanting an offensive minded blueliner or could this pick be packaged for Bertuzzi?
